1v1 are almost always honored if agreed. (low sec and high sec - I haven't been is null sec for them) If they aren't agreed than anything can go. But often at least in fw you may still get a 1v1 if its just a t1 frig or something. Both types are fun. When its not agreed so you don't know if someone is going to jump in it adds a bit to the adrenaline.
I like t1 hull frig solo fights. There is a ton of variety that you can bring to one of these. Perhaps there is more variety than any other hull type.

Originally by: viper09 the main problem is that theyre is no honor left in 1 v 1 to me its skills only and how well you fly the ship that means winning or losing hell most 1 v 1s ive had lately always turn into 3 v 1 and that jsut sucks have sum courage to see if you can beat them alone feels alot better than using more ppl

I fly solo all the time, 1v1 whenever the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes I'll do me vs many if I think I got a shot. I roam far and wide for my fights usually bouncing between hotspots like OMS or Amamake. I use dotlan and check the lowsec kills and usually head towards those areas.
Sometimes I'll sit at a gate and wait til someone I want to fight takes a shot at me (I'm blinky red). Of course there are a number of risks associated with this method. You automatically give up the chance to engage first, and in many cases a gang may be waiting on the other side. Occupational hazard dealing with gangs.
Sometimes I go days or weeks without a fight. I don't do duels, I'd rather earn my fights. Most of the fun comes with the hunt, the kill is simply icing on the cake.

1v1 is still alive. Done it exclusively so far. It is still fun.
Tbh, you can get ****ed off if you are close to pop someone and the buddies come in. Meh.
Bugger is just that if you are committed to a frigate fight you have only just a minimal chance to get out if friends are brought in ... if they are competent, chances are zilch.

Edited by: Easley Thames on 28/05/2010 10:33:32 If you mean pre-arranged 1v1 fights, I take those challenges more often then not, but you have to set certain conditions to minimize the risk of a trap. That's simply part of your due diligence or you deserve to die in the blob.

I agree. Rifter duels are especially awesome.

Don't fly anything you can't afford to lose, or aren't willing to lose. Then when you see that lone guy, you jump on him. If his buddies come, so what? You may take one or more of them with you, or you may get ganked.
Really, who cares except KB stat *****s?
This isn't "1651 Online." If someone has insulted your honor, grow a thicker skin, and if you find yourself in a fair fight, you screwed up.

I , when I play consistently, got some decent 1v1s and "1v1s".
I don't con- I didn't* consider it dead at all. But , in all honesty, I found 1v1s to be pretty boring unless I was losing. I got my thrills from "1v1s" - me versus 3 or more people at once -. The chances of me coming out alive weren't high and the chances of me getting at least 2 kills or slim as well. However, the challenge, for me, came from the calculating and predicting what would happen at what time period and how to stay alive when that happens.
I would gladly do a 1v1. Of course, now if I decide to do a 1v1, I would downgrade my ship an entire size by the opponents ship. They decide to bring a cruiser -> I'll an assualt ship. They bring a battlecruiser -> I'm bringing a cruiser. Either they accept it, or no 1v1. That way if I do get blobbed, it doesn't hurt me hardly at all. And.. it is kinda fun to know that one had to blog to kill a target when , theoretically, they should have easily handled my ship themselves.

In my experience 1v1 is live and well, just fit out a T1 frig and head out to a hot spot on you map (usually Amamake or Old Man Star. Avoid Rancer as that's more of a Smartbombing gate-camp sort of system) Head out bookmark safespots near the belts and start scanning.
When you find a target get stuck in with all your guns blazing! I don't bother checking the age of the character any more because I find some older characters aren't always skilled purely for combat. And some newer ones are pure PvP alts that wipe the floor with you.
In T1 frigs win or lose most combat is over within a minute reducing the chances of buddies jumping into the system and catching you with you pants down. If in doubt leave the wreck and comeback for it later, the less time you spend in the belt being a target yourself the better.
Never warp to zero, I warp in at 30km for a kill and 70 for a recce. This changes depending on the belt, you down want to warp into the belt and have to manually pilot yourself clear before warping.
On the whole most of the time when 1v1 goes wrong is due to uninvited third parties dropping in. And because I fly T1 it doesn't matter whether I win or lose I make these puppies 30 at a time from reprocessed mission salvage.
This is by no means all there is to solo PvP and no doubt more experienced people will shoot me down in flames but I find this works foe me. I hope some of this helps and gets people out there into low sec shooting each other up!

Arranged 1v1s tend to be dishonored when you fight people that looked bad in former fights against you or your corp. Or when you fight an expensive ship/faction ship and would actually win. Both is true for Aeternus.
As far as open 1v1s are concerned, you can get your fair fight in frig size or some T1 cruisers, I usually see "better" targets being gangbanged or run with ECM drones (like me).

Of my last 10 fights, 8 have been 1 v 1. 4 by invite and 4 random belt hoping chance encounters. Nothing says 1 v 1 like a riffter. Especially if you name your ship " 1 V 1 ". Cruiser and BC 1v1's are harder to come by but can still happen. IMO the most important part of solo pvp is the Devil May Care attitude. Start belt hopping low sec more often, flip a can and name it 1v1 so peeps with positive sec status aren't reluctant to aggro you ( or vice versa ), and you'll score fights. Park the dram's and hac's and you'll find fights coming you way in not time at all.

The worst players are the ones who say "wanna 1v1?" and yet are in their own little fleet with their gang-linked booster alts. It looks like a 1v1 on the killboards but they're just characterless oiks.

I'd never 1v1 someone. Agreeing to fight on anyone's terms anywhere is quite foolish in a sandbox, especialy over the internet. Anyone who cries about disnohoUring a 1v1 is a fool and should be happy he learned a lesson.
I sincerely daubt a 1v1 was ever estabilished as a form of engagement in this game to really have a topic about it "dying", or something like that. We might aswell talk about how "honour" is dying, cause of RR and Falcons, but it's the same bull****. It was simply never around.
