I had the suspicion that some were not correct, so I took notes during my exploration sessions. My findings:
The following sites have an expected signature size of 0.21% according to DSP guide but I found them to have a signature strength between 0.11% and 0.14%
Angel Repurposed Outpost DED 3/10 (3x) Small Kernite and Omber Deposit Average Omber Deposit Rogue Drone Asteroid Wormhole K162 Angel Lookout
The following sites have an expected signature size of 0.41% according to DSP guide but were between 0.26% and 0.28% for me:
Angel Hideout Haunted Yard (2x)
The following sites have an expected signature size of 0.10% according to DSP guide. While my results are pretty close, there is a trend towards smaller signature size:
Angel Cartel Occupied Mining Colony DED 4/10 (0.07%) Local Angel Shattered Life Support Unit (0.07%) Looted Angel Abandoned Station (0.09%)
Finally, Wormhole R943 came in at 0.06% whereas DSP guide reports it at 0.14%.
My probe strength is 10.5%
Disclaimer: I only scanned those drone and profession sites down for science |

Just checking, but you're referring to Mio's guide, right? Otherwise I have no idea where to start; there's too much bad information out there.
If that's what you're doing, it sounds like you're not actually using a Deep Space Probe. DSPs work with this method because you can set them to the widest possible scan and not really worry about deviation interfering with strength. If you're using core or combat probes this way your results will show more deviation.
If you are using DSPs and not core or combat probes then either 1) you're using more than one probe and they are all hitting, which throws off your results or 2) you're not setting them to maximum scan range. This is the least likely scenario as either of these would increase your reported scan strength rather than decreasing it but... well, it's still worth mentioning.
Bottom line: I'm pretty much certain this is user error and not a problem in the chart itself. Those bands are quite consistent across regions and security zones and what your describing is way off the reservation compared to the patterns I see on a daily basis. |

There is a box at the top to enter your probes sensor strength.

First off, there is a little bit of variance in the probe results, +-0.02 or so isn't unusual on the bigger sigs. Also, make sure you're always scanning at 256AU, otherwise you're going to get somewhat weird results at times. |

Yes this is about Mio's guide, yes I'm using deep space probes, yes I'm setting them to 256 AU and the hits are in the outer band. |

I explore every races' space, as I stage out of a mobile platform. The sigs as reported on Milo's site have never been wrong for me @ probe strength 14 for Sisters Deep Space Probes.
In fact my 14 sensor strength results fall in line with what you're reporting that you're seeing @ 10.5 sensor strength. Just a hunch but did you happen to hit 'apply' when ya keyed in 10.5? |

The values update without pressing Apply.
Anyway I think the reason for the discrepancies might be that I'm scanning in the outer band of the DSP. If you set them to 256 AU, hold down shift and drag them around you'll see that there are different bands. I position it so that all planets are in the outer band. This will give me lower values compared to someone who scans in the inner bands. I remember reading years ago that this was how you should use DSPs because it minimizes variance of signature strength. Checking now, there is no mention of the outer abnd in the DSP guide. Was it originally part of the instructions? |

The guide has worked accurately for myself for a very long time. As long as you set your str and security properly, there should only be minor variations as said earlier. Guide tells me my 4/10s with my current set up are at 0.10. I find them between .09 and .11 in actual practice.
Voting user error. Triple check your stuff and keep trying.
Edit: Also, i dont even move the dsp, just drop and scan. "Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes itn++ makes people remember things they do not expect.
