I possible the new patch should be installed today. This would kill 2 birds with one stone. Dev's would not have to worry about fixing the server today and they could use the rest of the day to fix the new patch.

I did not mean the patch is going to fail but they might as well use todays downtime to install the patch.

Jumping ahead a seriously planned installation like a patch is a guaranteed way to cause amazing grief.
Leave the software installs to the professionals. Seriously. (And counter to the rants by various non-professionals who can maybe install Windows 7 on a pre-configured PC, CCP operations exhibits excellent professionalism.)
A serious database issue is more likely to postpone the patch than to bring it forward.

Sure they should change it today, it's not like they've got the extra support staff on hand TOMORROW with overtime and such sorted already is it? It's not like they've already announced it and planned it for tomorrow and wont be doing final bug fixes and tweaks today or anything.
No, it's much better to do it today, unplanned, because Dan Garvin is bored.
You have NO idea how this kind of thing works. --

I truly ment to say "After the data base is fixed and they call in all available help they should install the patch."

There's actually a chance todays problem will push back the installation.
If it's a serious problem they may want to fix it first, and who knows how long that could take. ------

Why do Dan Garvin's posts always remind me of 'Cat' in Red Dwarf?

It would also DESTROY skillplans on those (like me) counting on being able to switch to a long skill today sometime. I'm getting a couple to lvl 4 that I planned on being < 24 hrs from done tonight so I can queue up lvl 5.
