Is this relevant?
Originally by: CCP Sisyphus Hi all. Yes, this has been brought up and dealt with now. Alliances can have other alliances as contacts/standings. You can have up to 2600 of them. Should be more than enough.

Hi again all.
Some quick comments - we are aware of this and are keeping a close eye on this. There is absolutely no promise that we will change anything, but depending on what we see, it might.
Anyway, to clear up some issues.
All your existing buddies and people you have set standings to are now merged into your contacts. ALL OF THEM. Even if you have 1000. You will just be unable to add any more until you are under 300.
Also. The "block" list is not counted as part of that 300.
This 300 limit was already in the code for standings, so its just been ported to the new system. We did examine the DB to see how the merging of standings and buddy list would affect players, and the result was that less than 1% of characters would be affected by this.
But as I said above - it is under reconsideration.

That should be possible. And neutral standings still is a standing.

Contact folders didn't work anyway. But... are you saying we have to addressbook EVERYONE we want to blue or red? That doesn't seem quite right, I mean how do you addressbook a corp or alliance?
Yes, you can now add player corps and alliances to your contacts. If you set a corp as "red", then everyone in that corp is "red".
Also, since your corp and alliance now have fully functioning contact lists, if your alliance sets another character/corp/alliance as red - it shows up in your overview as if it were yours.

Dont want to be rude or smacky, but please show me two "features" that were reconsidered and fixed due to playerbase dissagrement..
alliance contacts limit upped 300 -> 2600
profile security beefed up. now completely at player decision, was "excellent contacts share information".
Thats just in the last month.

Edited by: CCP Sisyphus on 26/05/2010 15:22:44 Yes (to an extent)
When you login to evegate, in the top right hand side will be a link "profile settings".
Go there and see that there are 3 settings. The following pilots have the ability to see and post to my broadcast log: The following pilots have the ability to see my profile's full contacts list: The following pilots have the ability to see my profile's mutual contacts:
All of those can be set to a particular standing level, all, none, corp, or alliance. Also you can say have "good standings, AND members of my alliance and corp"
So you can say "anyone I add as a contact as neutral and above can see my broadcasts, but only excellent standings contacts can see my contacts" etc.
But I cant see a way of saying "Pilot X can see my contacts as a neutral contact, but other good and excellent contacts cannot see my contacts".
does that answer your question?

Originally by: Emperor Ryan Once again a thanks to CCP Sisyphus for replying on such short notice. Admitly i am happy that the majorty of the players would not be effected but such a 300 limit, So instead i'll change my direction for a moment and ask why?
I'm normally used to you guys at ccp changing things with some sort of explination, to be fair its your game we pay for the service but at the same time i think the player group would be intersted in knowing.
Simply put, we didn't actually change anything. It was in the code for a looong time (years?) that there was a 300 limit to standings for characters and corporations. We thought about changing it, looked at what would happen in the DB, and made a decision to leave it as is, pending examination of how it pans out on TQ.
We're also looking at expanding the label system to contacts, but have to do a lot more network optimisation and other backend work before that can be brought onto the "under work" table.
edit: oh forgot - the watchlist (online/offline notification) is not default for your contacts. You have to choose specifically to place people in your watchlist.
