Miners retaliate I mine a lot in eve i see a lot of people get ganked miners have no defense. the market depends on us miners to get the minerals. I think they should up the resist on the mining barges and exhumers and have then be able to have more CPU and power grid. only because we have no defense. Because of this issue we lose 300mill ships and they only lose 90mill ships just not very fair for people who make their money mining. |

tears, delicious tears.
see those MLU IIs? replace them with a damage control and such like. also, stop exaggerating, nobody is using a 90m ship to gank you. the bounties are ~25m per exhumer iirc? so i highly doubt the ship they're using is going to be worth more than that.
losing your hulk is your own fault. |

it's your fault because you decided not to tank your hulk and paint a gigantic target on yourself. it's like some one saying "how is it my fault my TV got stolen, i only left the door open?"
no, it wasn't a metaphor, it was wildly inaccurate and plain wrong. |

You can mine with 100% safety, you just need to learn to be creative.
It has taken 9 years for ganking to become as effective as it is, and thats because the gankers have continued trying to find the best methods. Meanwhile, many miners have continued to be fools and active tank.
Buffer fit that Hulk. Get up to 25k EHP, and you'll be fine (as long as the gankers care about profit, otherwise even the Orca doesn't stand a chance). Just don't go afk, cause then the belt rats might finish you off.
For 100% safety while mining, learn about bookmarks. 6 strategically placed BMs around the belt about 1-2k km away, and you can stay aligned almost all the time ready to warp off before the enemy could even warp into the belt. |

nothing to do with "effective" it's just taken 9 years for people to pay you for doing it. |

No, effective is a good word for it. Also changes to ships, Destroyers in particular has made it much easier, and possible to gank harder targets for the same low price now. .5-.6, and depending on skill / loadout, .7 systems its entirely possible for a lone dessie to solo a hulk on a suicide run now.
I am not against suicide ganking, but I am a pretty big believer in balance for both sides with the risk / reward argument. It should take much more expensive ships (aka, the old BC method) to do the job. An actual decent faction hit (it is piracy after all) would be nice too. ;)
To the OP, if you were in a system higher than .7, and youre buddy got ganked AND you almost got killed,... then the above posters are absolutely correct, stop giving miners a bad name and TANK THAT FLYING WALLET YOU CALL A MINER! |

the destroyer changes did make it easier, but nobody bothered until goons started dishing out rewards.
the fact that you can do it in destroyers means goons needed to pay less than they otherwise would have to make it worth people's time. again, being easy or effective has nothing to do with it. goons making it profitable is pretty much the only reason people suicide gank hulks in high sec as much as they currently are.
how many of those people do it purely for the lulz? very, very few i'd wager. sure every one gets lulz out of it but the real reason they're doing it is for those bounties. |

i'm not saying it wasn't around. i'm just saying nobody really bothered with it on the scale that we're seeing in recent times. isk rewards are a huge factor in it's popularity. |

Has anyone wondered WHY Goons are paying to gank miners?
Maybe something to do with market manipulation of mineral prices so they can make EVEN more money?
The ones who are doing the ganking are helping to drive up mineral prices and therefore ship prices for everybody.
I for one HATE gankers purely for this reason.
One other thing, I had heard that CCP were going to prevent Hisec gankers from claiming insurance on their ships. Did anything ever come My missus thinks of EvE as 'the other woman'. :) |

If you want safety, mine from a Rokh. If you want revenge, exorcise your kill rights. If you want risk free ISK, sell plex's. If you want GOOD ISK from in game, don't mine at all. If you want sympathy, your probably in the wrong game.
EVE has over 200 killing machines, and like..6 miner hulls. Should tell you what happens a lot in this game. Even the other miners benefit when you die.
Don't afk mine. Don't sit at he warp in and mine If theres a ship in your belt burning straight at you... you might take that as a clue. |

Well the thing is about the rock is you get the nice bonuses a hulk does or else i probably would mine in a rokh. I would like to at least have a higher CPU and power grid out put cause even if you try fit the mackinaw for a nice tank your not as efficient and still if someone were to gank you you would get ganked. the hulk has okay defense if fitted right .
i would just like better CPU and power grid so we can fit nice shield boosters on and still be efficient. |

Hulks have little defense because they're mining ships, not combat ships.
I've mined on and off for well over a year now and I've never even been close to getting ganked. If getting ganked is an issue for you I'd first take a look at how you're fitting and flying your Hulk rather than straight away whining on the forums that they're too weak.
Find a quiet system out of the way, don't mine at the belt warp in and stay aligned to your station. That's all you need to do. |

Tank your hulk, fly smart, and be cautious. And my advice move to low sec, it's safer if your not afk. No really in hi sec you have no warning on who is an enemy where as in low sec or null watching local will help you distinguish on who is or isn't a friend. If their not blue or a friend they want you dead, it's that simple. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you. |

oh 100m, i thought it was 250m, that means the buffs to exhumers to stop the high frequency of suicide ganking is less than i thought. |
