Edited by: Dacryphile on 29/05/2010 23:10:05 I lost a faction fit CNR in WC once. I was traveling to the serp gate in the first pocket and went AFK. Unfortunately, I didn't approach the gate, I approached one of the serp ships. Came back to see my pod in the middle of a wreck in the middle of the serp cloud. D:
Loss was about 1.5B.

Edited by: AtheistOfFail on 30/05/2010 08:06:17 My last drake died from not being able to tank 5 battleships. I was at 25% shields which is where i usually jump out. A new wave with the 3 scram frigs came in. My shields failed. I killed them just as my ship popped.

Golem ganked in Ichoriya. less than 5 minutes into the mission, I'd pretty much JUST jumped into the first pocket. Scout jumped in, gave me the evil eye, followed by 10 battleships. I didn't make it through the first laser volley. Ship was 2 weeks old. Not "perfect fit" ,but about 2.4 bil in it. My lover made it. It was my first. I'll never forget it.

The biggest cash loss was a paladin in a Serpentis Assault where my kid required attention at an inopportune moment. Faction LAR, heat sinks, tracking comp and webber. About 1.5 bill at the time.
The most embarrassing moment was when the child was about 2 months old and was having a bad night. Lost two Abaddons and an Geddon in the same mission when I had to keep running to sort out the little guy.
After that, I went industrialist until he was sleeping through the night. |

Not expensive as most ships here but at the time it was fair amount of isk for my character, plus there is lesson to be learned. :) When I was starting out I lost a Harbinger BC while attempting a Lvl 4 mission. I wanted see what they were like and I couldn't afford a battleship. (Got scrambled and webbed and then killed off)
Not so bad but I went to Jita and bought a new Harbinger, paying extra money to save time, with exactly the same fit and jumped back into the same mission promising this time I would 'be extra careful'. Of course I lost the ship exactly the same way. I was not happy.

Pimped out Domi, at least 350mil, while doing AE4 I think. Got to the last ship of what I though was the last spawn, a frigate so I only had light drones out, and left for a bio break. Came back to find my pod in the middle of a fresh spawn.

Y? It gives you all of 100 more dps. Ridiculous for a 180M investment. I'd rather have the extra tank (an additional 40,000 ehp).
If you understand how damage mods work you'd realize its a waste of time. Just like putting 4 CN invuln fields on a fit, 4 damage mods is a waste of time.

Worst losses I had to this day is a Drake trying to do some lvl4 Epic Arc and not listening to warning sound and second one wasn't a mission but a plex, got a phonecall, so I set my deadspace Retribution to orbit a nearby roid. When I came back 20 minutes later, I was just in time to see the hull starting to take damage with 4 neut cruisers and 20 frigs ontop of me :(

Edited by: Jamie Banks on 31/05/2010 00:03:38 Well I haven't lost anything near some of the losses here but you can definately see a pattern.
Moral of the story: Don't fit more than 1 Bil worth of stuff to your ship Don't go AFK at all Don't shoot corpies Don't drink and PvE Don't compensate your low-skills with faction equipment
T2 Fit is probably one of the most cost-effective and OVERALL best missioning setups taking into account occasiosanal brain farts and gankings.

I lost a CNR once due to the volume turned down to zero because my gf was on phone. I was taking heavy dmg on my shields and decided to warp out. Clicked the right buttons and continued sweet-talking with my love. Turned back to see my ship still surrounded by frigs and taking more dmg. Thought "wtf?!" and then saw the scrams. Released small drones, locking up the scram frigs and watching my armor melting quickly. I almost made it, killed the last scram frig just when my hull failed and watched me exploding... all while I was responding more or less meaningful to my gf on phone...
Gosh, I was really ****ed and: she did not notice anything... thats self-control
P.S.: my gf and I are not together anymore and I can hate her now!!!

So my 'worst' pve loss were three battlecruisers in a row... all to gatecamps.

Oh please do. It allows you to do jump ahead of your skill plan where you often need lvl V skills to equip some mods where deadspace mods have a lot lower requirement. That and they're better.
Quote: Don't go AFK at all
ctrl+q is nice and fast if you need to go afk.
Quote: Don't shoot 'corpies'
If you fly a machariel, corpies are going to shoot you. Don't fly and angel faction battleship if you're fighting angels.
Quote: Don't drink and PvE
Don't drink and fly an expensive ship. Drinking and playing eve and be a lot of lulz especially done in a group both in PVE and PVP.
Quote: Don't compensate your low-skills with faction equipment
Ohhhhh please do, see above: the income increase you get from having a ship that can actually tank and kill rats with relative ease makes up for the extra cost of the high cost mods.
Quote: T2 Fit is probably one of the most cost-effective and OVERALL best missioning setups taking into account occasiosanal brain farts and gankings.
Well now, what are you gona do with all them billions you get with your ship? PIMP it out. :) pimping is fun.
Quote: Edit: Play EVE drunk only when you PvP
PVP-ing druk makes you lose your ship faster then PVE-ing drunk.
On-topic: My biggest loss to date was a cheap fitted Raven. A week earlier we had been called over to another region to aid our alliance. We landed in a nice big fleet. Then we went on and tried to take a pos down which we failed at. Sadly the entire OP was a fail. I had to travel frigging 34 jumps to get there. But left my Raven in a station overthere because there were going to be more OPs. Even though my corps went through a lot of effort rallying players to help, a week later my corp along with a few others corps was booted from the alliance over some political crap and my Raven was still in a now neutral station/region. Still having my jumpclone overthere I decided to pick it up. I managed to make 6 jumps before locals caught up with me and started messing with my raven and then my bittersweet victory happened: I and my attackers were jumped by a 30 men roaming gang from out of the region and I lost my raven but the locals also lost 3 ships because they were engaged with me at a gate.
This lead to my first shoot on sight targets and some day I am going to get back at that alliane leader, even if my monetary damages were very limited.

My biggest mission lost was...*gasp* a Cormorant! That's about it in my 1.75 month old character. Since that time I've moved on to a Myrmidon for level 3's. But I have to say that the biggest loss was perhaps my dignity that day as a lost Cormorant isn't a big deal. Here's why...
I failfitted the destroyer with long range railguns, on top of a poor shield tank set-up due to my inferior skills at the time. You wanna know what killed me? A single rogue drone.
Yes...ONE rogue drone. It warp scrambled and webified me so I was probably going at 40m/s. Then the arrogant bucket of bolts began orbiting so close to the ship my 150mm's couldn't take him down. He slowly chewed through my ship before I popped. I learned a lesson, though. Soon I added two 125mm's in to the mix of my 150's and all was well.
Some of you may say not to mix guns like that, but it worked.
