EVE's own promo touts that it is one big sandbox and the PLAYERS decide what happens it it. When EVE management limited how many players can go into Jita THEY decided what happens in the sandbox. When I first started playing EVE I stayed away from Jita because it had to many players in it. If a player decides Jita is to crowded let him/her make the decision not to go there. If EVE management would have limited the systems to 1000 players when the game first started Jita would be a completely different system. To make the change now alters the way a player has played the game for years. For good or bad Jita is part of the sandbox.

1) use paragraphs 2) there has always been limits - Jita [or any other system] would crash the node with 600 people in it at one time 3) the ability to limit was put in a while ago 4) things are always limited after a new patch 5) things change al teh time 6) stop whinging 7) ???? 8) profit --

Except it's my guess that it was limited due to resource problems, rather than "hey let's cap Jita because we want to".

What you fail to realize is that just after a patch there are a lot more transactions going on than on the regular Sunday, hence the load most likely is way higher than normal.
And I too have been in Jita when there has been a lot of people and it running smooth, we all have been playing the game and sometimes it runs smooth sometimes not.
Welcome to the Sandbox.

And the difference between sand and a poster on EVE-O is ... ummm, freck i know.
BTW, I haven't seen a Jita in months. If I see a Jita enter the room, I'll jump onto it and squash it into the sand. Burying it for ever and ever and ever ...

I'm just hoping this isn't some idiotic stealth-change but something like a post-expansion bug/whatever. Trade hubs are a good thing, and one of the nice examples of good and functional emergent gameplay.

I can't understand why ppl are so addicted to Jita, there are other trade hubs out there. Amarr, Rens, Penirgman, just to name a few, if you actually looked there are probably dozens, its just ppl automatically go to Jita where all the spam bots are and mercs camping the undock. Capt. your most likely right, a post-patch bug is what I consider the main culprit, but care..capslueers need to whine about something.

Edited by: Heimdallofasgard on 28/05/2010 13:26:46 you DO know that jita is one of the only (if not THE only) system that runs on its own dedicated server? perma-reinforced...
a standard system (as we saw with maut about an hour before the patch downtime) buckled under the load of just over 500 people.
it's understandable ccp puts a cap on solar systems sometimes... especially the day after patch day when thousands of people are accessing their servers to download the 200mb patch.
EDIT: as for sandboxes... don't get me started... ever played the ruthless unrelenting pile of sand and boxes that is... JUST CAUSE... so much sand and so many boxes that everything is just copy pasted after the first mile? ------- I LIKE DEHYDRATED WATERRRR |

you know how when you go to the beach and get sand in your shoes and never can get all of it out, then the sand gets in every little crack and crevice and you can't get it out for months? That's what going to Jita is like I reckon hahaha But I digress. This one time at fat camp, i was flying a dominix, and then I was so hungry that i ate 3 planets and collapsed into a black hole, which ate my sig. |

If EVE management hadn't altered things Jita wouldn't of even been a trade hub, but they did, people adapted so just adapt and ffs stop you're crying.

1084 people in Jita when I was just in it, looks like the cap has been removed by the lag is immense, even by Jita standards. ----------
Where can you end up with just 5,000isk and the Market Interface? I have no idea but I intend to find out: Drew Jerac's Log |
