Version 2.0.0: An all-new Industrial Planner is available. - Single-planet production line planner. - Provides CPU/Power summary for facilities. - Pyramid-style product-component flow. Select a P4 item and production rate, drill down to required P3/P2/P1 production rates/volumes and raw material extraction requirements. - Supplemental Import/Export ability for P3/P2/P1 lines. - Simple stoplight coding to easily identify bottlenecks.
Need verification on Office 2003 and OpenOffice as to functionality please.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind there's only so much you can do with industry planning without actually placing PINs; this tool is designed as a broad planner for a broad audience.

Just wanted to mention quick that this .xls file opens fine in Google Docs. So it is eminently ready for Corp Mates to collaborate on a single copy, and add pages at whim.
Well done on this spreadsheet!
Btw, Google Docs doesn't require a gmail account to use. But it helps a lot :-)
Here's a link about it Google Docs Getting Started
Cheers!

Thanks for the confirmation on the functionality.
Any feedback on the usability of the Industry Planner? Is it intuitive enough?

Excellent tool, thanks for all your hard work.
I suspect that anyone that finds the Industry Planner un-intuitive probably shouldn't be spending too much time with PI anyway. :P

Can someone verify the on-planet PIN prices for me. As soon as I have those, I should have the updated tool available.

Hey Snidely, Most Excel'ent sheet you have here :3 I just had a question if you could poke me if im doing something wrong. Upon loading the current file in Excel 2007 Cells C,D,F,H,J,K,L,M,N,P,Q,S,T,U, and V all on the 14th row are showing #N/A values for me regardless of the planets I select from the dropdown. Im also coming back to eve from a short hiatus, so I dont completely know how the Components tab shouldd be set up, however it looks like things on the B column do not have a Corresponding match on Row 2. Is this normal? For example column B has Autotrophs where there is no corresponding one on Row 2. Same for Suspended Plasma and a few others. Just glancing at the formulas, I dont yet understand what or why the component sheet can only be one or two. Could you humor me with a brief understanding on how it works on the back end please? It seems to be the same effect on the most updated Product and industry as well.

On the Products page, those #N/A cells mean there is no 3rd component required, only 2. Working as intended.
The Components page is my lookup table that is used to build the Products and Industry pages. Best left alone, and I've hidden it in recent versions.
I still need a cost for the High Tech Production Plant on TQ if anyone has built one.

Update to planner v2.0.2 and a new name [PIPPI].
Added efficiency setting to Industry page to allow for wait times when it's not possible to supply all components to a processor at max rates.
Added verified costs of facilities, the total cost calculator should now function.
Feedback welcome as always.

Thank you for the very nice tool, I like it a lot.
A little hiccup: In the latest version, the header area for the P4 part, industry sheet, is hatched with black (B13 to H17 area) and so almost unreadable (Excel 2003).

Edited by: Everseeker on 11/06/2010 19:05:57 OK, In version 2.0.3 : Here's what I do to test...
D13, I enter Broadcast node... See the 3 requirements, with pretty colors... Cool. Now, onward. D30, Data Chips E30, High Tech Transmitters F30, Neocoms (More pretty colors... more parts... cool, I am getting this!)Next up, the P2 stuff...
D47, Microfiber Shielding E47, Supertensile Plastics F47, Polyaramids G47, Transmitter H47, Silicate Glass hmmmm... I guess I am supposed to use- I47, Biocells... hope that's where it goes
Anyway, OK, I see the parts... now for P1 D61, Industrial Fi.... ummmm... Indus..... hmmm I have 5 items in P1, Water, Reactive Metal, Electrolytes,Oxygen, and Oxidizing Compound Have another 5 in P0, also unchangable
Well heck... went to Products page and selected 6 planets.... no dice Picked 1 planet W/O water(OK, Aqueous Liquids ) and cleared the rest... nope Unless I have a use for Water, Reactive Metal, Electrolytes,Oxygen, and Oxidizing Compound, I am toast :(
I appear to be missing something....
In addition, although there are 10 different processed Materials required, I can only select 5... oh I get it, the rest MUST be transported... Hmmm... What do I do if my facility only has 3, and I need to transport 7?

The hatched area means you can't use a P4 plant for the type of planet you have selected. If you select Barren or Temperate (the only eligible planets for High-Tech Plants) the hatching will disappear and you can use the P4 section normally. Working as intended.
I'll try to include a sample hatched legend on the next version to eliminate confusion.

I'm not really sure how to answer you other than to give you some simple bullets: - Products page is a simple tool to display what options you will have available for a single character doing PI on up to 6 planets. - There is no P4 item buildable on a single planet by a single character without importing materials. Hence the fields labeled Import/Export. You are seeing that by picking a single P4, then picking the resulting P3, then realizing you can't pick all the resulting P2s without importing. - The 5 main fields on the P1 production line are derived from the 5 main P0 raw materials directly below them. If you want an "ineligible" material based on your planet type, you'll have to import it. - The Industry page hasn't matured yet to the point where it can handle a broad import plan. If you're trying to do a bunch of P4 using many different P3, or a bunch of P3 using many different P2, you'll have to wait until I expand the spreadsheet capability down the road.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried changing the planet at the top of the Industry page?

Great Tool Very handy.
One thing though. I try to create 6 sheets (one for each planet) but I get errors on all the sheets but the original. I'd like to have the data for each of my planets available at once rather than having to go through and change all the values on the one sheet (how I'm working around this problem at the moment)
Is a future version going to have extra sheets, and possibly a final summary sheet as well (Total cost, Total output, Import/Export summaries for each planet and cost breakdown for each planet) becaus that would turn a great tool into a totally awesome one :D

I encountered that same problem, but for now I just have a copy of the original file for each planet. More cumbersome but until we can have multiple sheets it works.
Great tool thanks!

One cycle of a P0 is 30 minutes, making the 6000/hr accurate.
