Edited by: Sphit Ker on 15/07/2010 19:42:31 We knocked on it hard enough. ItĘs not going to work right now
ItĘs a config issue after another. It would require one million billion ugly hacks to pack into an usable and convenient file for people to download. First, it want automake-1.8 which I have but the system is deadset on using 1.11.1. After an hour of ugly hacks (just for that!!) it now wants automake-1.9. Screw this tbh. ThatĘs where I stopped beating on things.
I include this simplified log as a hint for what I meant with ugly hacks.

Not to worry however, We're working on a rewrite that will be based on wxPython (as well as a web version with the use of pyjamas). So it'll run nativly without any complicated hacks on all platforms.

Are there any secret incantations to pass in proxy credentials? There is a prompt on the commandline, but typing in my usr:passwd does not seem to work.
Suggestions?

Edit: All sorted. Reading the urllib doccos indicated that the http_proxy environment variable is used.
I'm glad to hear its all sorted.
On another note, I'm currently -activly- looking for people that can help with the development of pyfa1. A tester would be awesome, as well as people with experience with wxPython and/or pyjamas. Anyone with experience in designing xml/json-rpc APIs is also very welcome.

I'm already using EFT and I wanted to try this as an alternative.. There are some things that I'd like to see changed in EFT and I wanted to see if Pyfa was any better..
But.. At first glance there are more things that EFT does well, then EFT does badly. -SPEED. EFT is SO MUCH faster.. -Settings. Pyfa don't have any? -Comparing multiple setups
Probably more, but I stopped after creating 2 fits. Can anyone tell me what it does better than EFT?

Greetings,
I have personaly not noticed any slowdowns in pyfa. In what areas are you experiencing them ?
And feature-wise, its mostly the same as EFT. Except for the ability to see multiple fits at once, although an actual full featured compare tool is something that is planned.

Ok, I tried it a bit, and here's what I found :
When you select multiple missile launchers (whatever size) and put a charge, there's a strange multiplication occurring, putting your DPS in the thousands, as if each bay was the equivalent of the total of bays you have. (Example : http://tof.canardpc.com/view/a20dc2e8-98e0-4ee6-9f35-10404ffca985.jpg) When adding a module, pyfa is not swift enough : I have to wait 1-2 seconds between each double-click, and that's quite annoying.
I like the data about the drones that is displayed, I'm sure it helps a lot all the drone fanatics.
That's all I can think of, for now, but although bugged it is in good shape of becoming a serious alternative to EFT, especially for those linux lusers ;) ---

Hi,
I have a problem with Pyfa when it comes to Projected Effects. Following error is thrown when I check (or add) new fit as projected effect:
Quote:
error while processing targetArmorRepair Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: targetArmorRepair() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given) error while processing targetArmorRepair Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: targetArmorRepair() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given) error while processing targetArmorRepair Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: targetArmorRepair() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given) error while processing targetArmorRepair Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: targetArmorRepair() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given) error while processing energyTransfer Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: energyTransfer() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given) error while processing energyTransfer Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pyfa/model/fitting/__init__.py", line 556, in calculateModifiedAttributes effect.func(effect, self, **overrides) TypeError: energyTransfer() takes exactly 4 non-keyword arguments (3 given)
My Pyfa version is a fresh checkout from GIT repository: 20100817, to which I upgraded because version from 20100601 did not apply projected effects as well.
Cheers!

Currently git repo contains WIP version of pyfa (both engine and interface are written from scratch), which is far from being feature-complete. In currently published version of pyfa projected effects are mostly broken; we planned to rewrite projected effects browser and underlying part of engine, but decided to scrap that as new engine/interface will have it anyway.

Yes, just slightly changed repo names: model became eos, gui_gtk became pyfa (it uses wxWidgets now).

Feel free to hop on #pyfa on irc.coldfront.net, can answer any questions you'd have there. Wouldn't mind your opinion on what graphs to add to the new gui either.

Hiya.
Not sure how actively this thread is checked, but got a ping from corp-mate who talks on #eve-dev prolly, and he asked for some ideas to pass on to you guys (I think) about PYFA.
Didn't get any good back then, but this came up this morning:
would it be possible to get separate (from char and from hull) selectable (drop down menu) implants-set that could be also saved (and maybe even exported/imported)?
Would make setting up current char (API update) and some much used common implant sets easier to pick; would also work on all-lvl-5 or "usual set with lvl-4's" cases/chars.
Anyhow following PYFA dev, and that evefit.org thing, happening with great interest. Thanks :) -- "Entering MH means instant death. It's worse than 0.0. Even the asteroids shoot back." - Alex Harumichi [GRD]

Hello there, please be sure we check the thread very carefully.
For the implant sets, I've added a ticket for it at http://trac.evefit.org/ticket/27.
It'll get done when its done, hopefully soon. There's a lot of things to go though! So we'll see (it'll get done before release eventualy)

I tried to browse through that trac-thing (sorry the phrase, but I'm not that much up-to-date with current software development... things.), but something now confuses me; is there some windows-bundle somewhere to pick, or is that 0.9 (beta) still the latest?

There aren't any binary builds yet (nor is the new version very usable yet). Patience!

Hey there, it seems the download of the icons pack either failed or got corrupted, the easiest thing to do is let it redownload by removing the .ini file from ~/.pyfa/ if that doesn't work and it keeps doing that, just download it manualy & extract it in ~/.pyfa/ and add this to the files.ini file:
[icons] version: 8

None of this works for me.
*icons-pyfa1.tar.gz (unzips, but ~/.pyfa/icons/ doesn't work) *icons-dominion.tar.bz2 (does not unzip) *icons-apocrypha.tar.bz2 (does not unzip) *113614_overrides_SuperCarriers.zip (unzips, but ~/.pyfa/icons/ doesn't work) *113614_overrides_Dramiel.zip (unzips, but ~/.pyfa/icons/ doesn't work) *dmg (Not even sure what this is)
pyFA works without the icons, thank goodness, but adding "[icons] version 8" to files.ini isn't really a solution.
Someone needs to tell us what zip/bzip2 file to download and decompress, and where to put it.
Either that or quickly get a pyfa 0.91 out.

Hello there, I've double checked the icon pack today (the correct one being the dominion.tar.bz2 one) and I can open it with 7zip & then extract it to ~/.pyfa/ and pyfa then takes it just fine, as such. This should work fine as solution. (adding the abovementioned piece of text to files.ini is needed too, however)

Hello there, I've looked into this and found the cause, someone moved the icon packs to their own folder without correctly changing the files.ini file on the server. I've fixed this ,and the autoupdater should be working fine & dandy again (no need for any client updates at all)
