You took the initiative and engaged the target. It is only natural to call for backup when threatened. Imagine it happening in a sci-fi movie. Furthermore, the fact that he did not accept your challenge indicates that he had no faith in his abilities and chances of winning.
You may also want to think the political aspect of it. The fact that attacking a single member of the alliance summons reinforcements further disencourages any unwanted random conflicts with the alliance. Protection is, afterall, one of the main reasons for being part of an alliance.
If you still wish to confront them, you only need a fleet of your own to match in strength. I suggest not taking these things personally but if you do, good luck!
As a sidenote to Lifewire's pursue for pirates' rights, my stand is - without excitement and risk, Eve wouldn't be the unique game it is. I'm looking forward to being able to stand on my own two feet and experience the excitement this game has to offer.

why have no pilots show up on map in space u cant see where they are so u cant gank them.

I completely agree with turning off local chat. You speak you show is just fine. Pilots in space however are a needed feature. If you turn this off, most combat will end. How are you going to go looking for targets?
FOr the carebears that like to mine in low sec, show them that a new person has entered local. They can then make a judgement that they can run, or they can stay and mine and hope it was not a pirate that is about to jump into their belt.

thats not a blob...thats teamwork, something CA does very well.

ummm hey tard - i have no respect for you - u know that already - although i have mad respect for your CEO and a few others of OG - anyhow:
1.) have you ever figured that you may have just been on the wrong side of a moving fleet? happened to me all the time - though i was usually in a Moa so i could get away or play until the big boys (BS's) came in - think before you start flaming.
2.) did you ever think that maybe their were just a few guys in nearby systems who got word of a possible kill taking place and decided to go get some of the action? - lemme help you out:
From now on think of CA as sharks - we (CA-sharks) can smell blood (hostiles under attack) from miles (a few systems) away - when a shark kills a large fish - the blood is smelled from miles away - within minutes you have multiple sharks circling around the area of the fresh blood - does that help? if you were in an alliance and had your own space and i went into it i would expect to find a 1v1 that turns in a 1vMany - hell it happens to me now in my own space - stop whining - $h*t happens - deal with it.

Heh.. I can't believe this warrants a thread, and I can't believe you're complaining. 
You were on the NIH side of the SL gate, I warped in at 60km and quickly learned that you were flying an EW-equipped Scorp that I wasn't prepared to fight, as I was in my npc-hunting shield tanked Scorp w/o FoF. I warped out, called for backup, then warped back in when I knew backup was on the way. I sat there tanking your EM cruise and torps, hoping you'd stick around long enough, and you did.
FYI, including myself there were only 4 in the gang, total; the other two CA in the system were doing their own thing.

That little reinforcement I had consisted of a friend in a frig fitted for scrambling.
1 Scorp + 1 frig VS 1 Scorp + 1 Typhoon + 1 Raven + another dude (didnt see his ship) = ?
U do the math.

JQA I say is one the best at being stupid about blobs. As today, they jump in system, 2 v 1, My ship outmatches theirs, they run without even trying. 1 minute later, 2 more jump in. Ooh they have a BS now, Raven. hhmm I think, well Im only in a Scorp. Maybe I shouldn't take this on.
1 Raven, 1 Ferox, 1 Rupture, 1 Ishkur. vs 1 Scorp.
Well I go to station, and I engage, quickly jam the Raven, and start shooting at the smaller ships. As usuall the minute I shoot at them, all the small ships go to 400km away from me. And I even had 3 20km scrammies on the raven, but he managed to warp out. This time my buddy in his raven undocks. They all warp out to safe spot.
Understandable, so My raven buddy docks back up. Then another one shows up.
Apoc, Raven, Ferox, Rupture, Ishkur vs Scorp, docked Raven.
The attack force failed to kill me, in a straight up 5 v 1. I had no stabs on. I had to retreat for good reason, but i stuck around and fought for a while.
The second the Raven undocks they all warp away. So we even up the odds, grab a couple more friends, and chased them all to hell.
We go do something else, in a group of 7, upon our trip home we meet back up with them in a group of bout 20 or so more. Sorry not interested in that.
These guys blobbed me with 49 ppl in local, after my lonesome crow. Get a life JQA.
