No that was pure win ^_^
1. Obliterating your opponent with a cheap set up and getting a load of points 2. Selling the win for 3 bill and self destructing all your ships 3. Getting placed against a weaker opponent in qualifying round 2 4. ??? 5. Profit
There are only 2 flaws with the plan as well.. First off I don't believe they made actualy any isk out of it (but that wasn't the point) and second off, they still have to actually win the next match. Now while I will grant you, there is a good chance that they will as they will be facing one of the other loosers (a flaw in the setup of the tournament) there is still a possibility that they wont and they will get knocked out because of it.
Should that happen I expect the Skool to be re-instated in its rightful place in the Hydra Allice.
(Yes, im still mad about being kicked)
Actually Madam, I believe (from what I heard) is Hydra bet against themselves in the eve booki because someone noticed how many people bet for hydra to win. Dont know if this is true, just sain... oh, on the other hand, did you read my sig?

Anyone that allows an alliance to bet against its self is an idiot.. Actually, come to think of it, betting in eve when you can bet against yourself with a faceless alt that no one can trace pretty much means that anyone running bets in eve is an idiot..

I can confuse anything I want with anything else I want thankyouverymuch. I am well aware that many of my posts lack humor and I have a vast following of prepubescent teens that was to see pics of b00bies (go word filter go!). However, unlike yourself, I also don't think my opinions are the only correct answer, and are in fact, only MY options.

I'm hoping they post the vid for it soon so I can watch and see what happened. From the battle summary looks like Noir. got schooled pretty bad.
Too bad you're no longer around to FC them to victory :(
Naw, no way am I going to try to take credit for Noir.'s past successes. You and I both know that a lot of very good pilots put in a lot of effort to get Noir. where they are and the successes they have earned. I was but a cog in the wheel. Sure I helped organize things but I'm sure their current officers are doing just as good a job as I did.
And I never really cared much about the alliance tourney either ;) Just ask the guys, I always said it was a waste of time ;) Arena fights are just that: Arena fights.
Still, was kind of surprising to see the results of that match... which reminds me I need to go watch it so I can see what happened. Been super busy this week, slipped my mind.

By that, you mean it's indicative of actual skill rather then using numbers and ECM to overwhelm an opponent then calling out gf in local?
The tournament represents some of the best fights that EVE has to offer (the other are had by my friends, and when I try to find them I get killed by an astarte) and as such is a great way for alliances without a lot of members (Hydra for instance) to show that they're amongst the best pvpers the game has to offer.

This is me, trying to figure out where I said they weren't. I said I don't care about the Tourney. Nor do I care about any type of arena fight. Whether it shows skill or not is irrelevent to me. It's not real PVP and thus I don't find it either entertaining nor interesting and you, having been there when I've flat out stated I want nothing to do with it, know damn well it has nothing to do with my opinion of any group's pvp ability.
As to hydra showing they're among the best PVP'ers in the game? Sorry, I'm trying to figure out what morons living under rocks need an alliance tourney to show them that? Frankly if it takes an alliance tourney to show people who's good @ pvp and who's not then those people's opinions aren't worth much anyway.
As to your jibes about ECM and cloaky ships I neither know nor care where you are coming from on that. I've flown with you in small gangs without any ewar and frankly I've never understood why you became so hostile towards everyone when you left Noir. Be that as it may your entire argument is pointless. I never denigrated anyone's skill. I merely pointed out that I don't give a **** about the tourney though I am curious how Noir. got beaten so thoroughly so I plan to watch the video of that fight.
They did much better last year. I don't pretend to know why, nor should you, considering you haven't flown with Noir. in over a year yourself.

That would be 99% of the player base. There are only 2 groups of people that even know Hydra exists. The first are the people that knew the people involved before it started, and the second are the targets. Everyone else doesn't know them and couldn't care less.
However, everyone knows of PL.

Yes, but I'd disagree. If anything, Arena based fights show an individual pilots, or a group of pilots, ability to fight with opponents on an equal footing. While not all fights in EVE are equal (they're quite often not) if you can't win an even fight, what chance do you stand of winning an uneven one that's not in your favour?

Hydra would be the alliance of Genos Occidere, and the player who is current #1 on Battlecinic. You may have heard of him, I believe his name is El'Tar. The corp is currently #1 on EVE Arena. You may have heard of them too.
Quote: As to your jibes about ECM and cloaky ships I neither know nor care where you are coming from on that.
It's a gripe I have with the game. It's not directed at any corporation or alliance directly (maybe those absolute ***gots who ganked Roasted Zera and I a while ago if anyone). It's hard to solo and small gang when currently there's no disadvantage to bringing more people and thus the game becomes whohasmorefriends online rather than involving skill or thought. Having said, it's possible to win against the blob with a good fleet and FC (Duncan does this fairly often).
Quote: I've flown with you in small gangs without any ewar and frankly I've never understood why you became so hostile towards everyone when you left Noir.
Wat. I'm in no way hostile to anyone currently in Noir. I think you'll also find I talk, and fly, with a lot of ex-noir. guys too. I vaguely remember smacking a falcon pilot and a fleet of theirs while I tried to get him to do something stupid. Ended up getting him into structure or low armour before he got a jam off :((( GIS is another story, and they're ***gots for camping me in and can diaf.
Quote: They grew, so what, their targets tended to blob them, so what. They tended to use cloakers and gank people, so what? Frankly I don't give a ****. Being a merc isn't about fair fights and you know it. It's about getting the job done. I got tired of the lifestyle just like every other merc who eventually left the business. But that didn't mean I went off mouthing off about perfectly valid tactics and being an ass every time I talked to former friends.
Valid tactics within game play, but that doesn't mean it makes for good gameplay, or is evidence of skill. Frequently people smack and talk about their kills when the majority of them are easy kills where numbers and overwhelming ewar is a substitute for skill.
Quote: Be that as it may your entire argument is pointless. I never denigrated anyone's skill. I merely pointed out that I don't give a **** about the tourney though I am curious how Noir. got beaten so thoroughly so I plan to watch the video of that fight.

My arguement was that the tournament, if anything, is one of the only places where skill can be measured in a reasonable fair environment, and also I was with Noir. at this time last year

Saying that winning a fight in an alliance tournament means you are good in actual PvP is like saying that winning a football match means you can survive in the jungle with a single swiss knife.
Being a survivor will help you with football (better stamina, speed...) but being a footballer will not help you at all in the jungle.

LOL I am not disagreeing with you. My point was that anyone who doesn't know this without an alliance tourney to show them really doesn't matter.
And a poster a few up said not many people know about Hydra Reloaded... I beg to differ... Hydra reloaded is widely known in pvp circles and Genos are almost universally regarded as one of the best PVP outfits in the game.
