Edited by: Zindee on 09/06/2010 03:46:13 Edited by: Zindee on 09/06/2010 03:38:25 Hello Claw Well I started out as a miner with little intention of getting into PvP for a while. Then the small high sec corp i was in got war dec'ed and i got my ass handed to me; BADLY. I have since then spent my training time focusing on battle ships and logistics ships with the idea that I never want to be a helpless victim again, victim maybe but not helpless. Once I am convinced that I can hold my own I will go back to mining and see what I can accomplish. Till I start training my mining skills again I mine in a small mining ship in high sec and run missions.
I love the tournament because I get to see that best of the best and watch tactics and play styles. It's one thing to be a EFT warrior it's another entirely to see what works in action.

Hi Claw,
I work as manager of sweatshop called "Lacco and the Gang". I recruit non-intellectual players with weak language skills, and persuade them to do my deeds, for a small reward of course.
This year our alliance's leadership noticed the economical potential of alliance tournament, and all individual managers started preparations to make level 5 mission grinders into fearsome killing force. So far the members have adapted new ways with out resistance expect for zyxeli. He might get booted of the team because he is not obeying the strict rules, and did die in his thrasher during the match agaist Mos Vape (TOTALLY INTOLERABLE).
The leadership follows every match from previous alliance tournaments to the present to copy victorious tactics. The fighters are not allowed to see any videos, because of their limited logical thinking we will not take a risk they could adapt wrong tactics or ways of play.
Manager and fighting trainer, Lacco

afternoon claw
names tami, been playing eve since june 2006 red moon rising client.
piracy / 0.0 / pvp / pve i run them all when
i first started in june 2006 with 350k sp and no clue what i was doing, around a month later i found veto-corp public chanel and later decided i was going to join them whatever it took.
i left my first corp and my good friends GTSR and TheDeluded two old counterstrike source clan members.
my first real corp was Veto-corp run by Ethan Verone, piracy wa the main game something i realy failed at but along the way they taught me alot.at the same time i was shown EVE-TV and the torney, i have watched every one since then.
what do i do in new eden, hmmm hard question. pew pew stuff, die alot, waste lots of iskies, and throw emo fits sometimes, but mainly i live in 0.0 and use empire to make iskies from them fat wallets.
why do i watch eve torney, well PEWPEW is the main reason the next is the settings and fittings of ships, how other pilots use them to good or bad effect. it is not very often you see an impoc or impgeddon in new eden let alone fight in fleets.
what do i miss in eve : EVE-TV i loved it, was very good for newbies and likes to watch and learn about life in eve and the ships one may fly. and kieron he gave the forum life
what do i hate in eve: COPY /PASTE replys from GM's and Dev's to petitions please teach them to type their replys

PVP mostly. High, low and zero sec.
Fun to see teams slug it out, putting their honor and isk at stake. Fun to see interesting comboes of ships and tactics. --- "And thus, another of the world's dreamers died, taking his dreams with him. I am 42 years old and have been playing EVE for about 2 years. I have 3 accounts, and manage to lose a few ships in PVP. I run missions and class 4 sleeper sites for ISK. I am a casual player and spend less than 10 hours on eve per week. I enjoy watching the tournament because some of the principles apply to Tranquility PVP and I hope to eventually become better at PVP than my opponents. I write this post because I wish the tournament was more like real PVP. I fully realize it the tournament will never be like real pvp, because in real pvp there are profoundly few rules and the guys with more ship mojo and/or better tactics generally win. Anyhow, I suggest the following format migration.
1. Teams get credit for the ISK value of the ships they kill. This ISK value will be determined by the killmail posting in www.battleclinic.com.
2.Players are allowed to warp out of the fight. Yes, their ship will explode, but the opponent will not get credit for the kill. This will necessitate the use of warp scramblers and/or disruptors.
3.Ships may field a fleet of 10 ships of any flavor with a total ISK value of perhaps 500mil or 750mil or 1bil orąsomething that seems realistic for a 5-10 person fleet. A lower limit will likely result in more ships exploding . a.At the end of the match, ALL surviving ships will explode and a teamĘs total fleet ISK value will be determined using the killmails posted on www.battleclinic.com . b.Any team that goes over the predetermined total ISK value will be penalized that ISK value AND their opponent receives this same amount.
4.Spider tanking of any form IS allowed.
5.Any combination of ships IS allowed.
6.Performance enhancing implants are not allowed.
7.The initial lull before the fight needs to be eliminated. Currently, FCs have too much time to review the opponent ships and determine a course of action. This is completely unrealistic and eliminates the element of surprise. One of the important attributes of a good FC is the ability to rapidly assess a situation and call a target. Teams need to arrive at a point in space and the fight and the fight must instantly begin.
ąJust some thoughts from a guy who generally enjoys watching the tournament but would like to see more ōrealismö in a few areas.

They use to allow this and quite a few matches were 15 mins of both teams not killing each other. Much better with spider tanking gone IMO.

Claw,
Great job on the tournament.
I enjoy watching the competition myself. Small fleet engagements, strategy, skills etc. No 100 man robotic blobs of 0.0. Unlike most 0.0 fights, everyone in the small fleet fights are involved rather than just a few alliance leaders. I'm really enjoying the sandbox CCP has created here.

ive been playing for 6 years and love to see how eve does its evolution
i log in from time to time to fleet up with the kadeshi crew or to try something dumb like solo bs 0.0 runs or camping low sec gate in a cruiser just to see what i can kill under sentry
im on the reserve team for the tournement so i try being online and watching incase they need me . a friend of mine who is captivated by how this game is a world of its own , couldn't believe how serious our tournament looks . he even asked why there is no eve news (where players would brief others about politic and territorial claims etc.)
basicly it just feels special with all the talks and prework befor the tourney. i also tried to show him some of the ships the winners got , and he found it so cool that none were available on market or contract
this game just kicks serious butts so the tourney just kick more butts!
keep it up

I am a deep Wspace dweller who enjoys killing players and Sleepers alike. Did a bit of FW but the mechanics need more work
I enjoy the Alliance tournies 'cause I like to guess who will win the fight, then see how right / horribly wrong I turned out to be. I enjoy thinking about the tactics employed, the target calling, and watching anything Caldari get blown up (those things really **** me off).

I am a 2008 player, primarily a pvp grunt in a large 0.0 alliance and secondly an empire trader. Watching the tournament is fun, seeing alliances getting together to duke it out. Altho not a realistic representation of pvp on TQ, I look at the matches and setups as experiments, where (new) ideas and tactics are tested which sometimes carry over to "real" pvp.
My wife, who has a 2009 mission runner character also mentions the whole fun aspect of the event with the commentators, seeing some real people from the eve community etc, how you can learn a thing or two about pvp through the matches and some about the who-is-who of alliances.

I am wondering: what do you do in Eve?
I've done a bit of most everything since joining in late '08 - some small gang piracy in low-sec and wormholes, mission-running, tech2 production, and exploration, most notably. The depth and complexity of the game is something that interests and intrigues me, and has been what's kept me around.
why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you
I enjoy the tournament because of the pretty explosions, really - the same reason most people I know watch NASCAR - for the wrecks. Along with that, betting with friends on who's going to win - and the chaotic debacles that some of the matches end up being. And, not least of all, some of the ad lib commentary that comes during the breaks is priceless. |

Hi, I'm Ren.
Started playing medium 2009 after coming from other games - tried to coax some friends in but they gave up rather fast. After graduating from Eve University, joined my current corporation.
Living in Wormhole Space now, shooting sleepers, rocks, and a lot of other people, though I'm sad to say most Wormhole Corps seem afraid of PVP. Love the feel of WH-space, and the lack of intel in local (much more fun if people don't see you immediately and hide in a POS)
The tournament is great, as I enjoy seeing the tactics and ships people use, and I can root for a few friends taking part.

Used to be a raging carebear/anti pirate. Corp I was in kinda fell apart, so I decided to just do abit of solo PvP... see how it went... I enjoyed it...
So I decided to try merc work for a little bit (about a day) didnt like all the camping stations for war targets.. left the corp.. decided to try pirating to see what all the fuss was about... joined The Python Cartel and didnt look back.
Been a low sec pirate for liek 3 years now ;D
I watch the tournement because I like the watch the "best" pvp'rs dish it out (****ty move by hydra, selling a win, but i dont blame them for doing it. It was quite original of them). Maybe by watching it I might learn something....
i also kinda wanted to try and enter this year, but our corp slacks so dam much so we never rly got around to even trying to enter. So I just watch it, because its the next best thing to actualy taking part.
Next year, i'll make the dam team myself if i have too :D

Yes. Lowsec, WHs, and sometimes highsec and 0.0.

Nope, sorry.
Originally by: CCP Claw What do you do in Eve, why do you watch the tournament, what makes it good for you - I'd love to hear from everyone regardless of your Eve 'career' of choice.
Small gang PvP (3-10 people mostly), and I watch the tourny because it's the best place aside from the "My Eve" section of the forums to see people excel in PvP that relies on skill rather than numbers.
Originally by: CCP Claw I look forward to your responses and will be reading every single one!
Perhaps you could give some lessons to the petition team.

Edited by: Captain Campion on 10/06/2010 23:48:55 I was a PVPer for ages, it was my main source of income. Then I had a break. When I came back everyone had moved on, so now I'm lonely. I'm still a PVPer, I just don't have anyone to PVP with... :(
So I'm cross training Caldari, whilst mission running, whilst trying PI. Bit of a fresh start to renew my interest.
I've watched the tourny since forever, but my alliance has never taken part.

I like to watch the tournament, because you can talk about it live with people on EVE Online, also the Jita Live was funny. It's nice to watch something being watched by thousands of people, I can't explain this feeling, it's like you're all involved in something.

Watching the alliance tournament as it is one of the last places were small gang pvp is practiced. An environment were tactics, fits, skills, ships and fleet commanding actually matter.

Hey Claw.
I started playing in Feb 2004, mostly as a high sec miner, learning the ropes from a small corp with similar minds. I joined a close in-game friend in early 2007 who's corp, Best Path Inc, were moving to the drone regions to make a fresh start as i wanted to finally experience 0.0 and PvP like i'd been meaning to since i first played.
Soon after, we joined Ethereal Dawn, became executors of the alliance and i rose up the leadership chain in both corp and alliance (not saying much eh? ) and became an alliance FC by the end of the year. We debuted at Alliance Tournament V under my captaincy, but with plenty of help from several key members - not all setups were my ideas! We surprised some people, lost to eventual semi-finalists PL and Cry Havoc though and placed 3rd in our group stage. Since then i've been hooked on it! Not a great showing from us in AT7, mostly due to the alliance falling apart and a huge lack of funding and some bad mistakes i made, but i suppose it always helps to learn from bad calls.
When ED informally disbanded september last year, our corp went nomadic, joined Cult of War then Atlas and now i'm fighting for a team two years ago i called our worst, but respected, enemy. Funny how things work out isn't it?
And great job of the tournament this year. I personally think it's the best yet even though i preferred the old group-stage tournaments, so i suppose that's quite an achievement. Keep up the good work!

Mix of pvp/pve, living in w-space.
I also take part of a variety of other things in Eve. Currently this includes invention, T3 Production, trading, market manipulations/speculating and recently PI. The only eve activities I haven't done much of in my eve career are missions (although I might go do some lvl 5s in 0.0 someday), faction warfare, and pirating.
I watch the tournament because its interesting and its also kind of exciting to see who will be "AT Champion" this year. Its interesting to see what setups people come up with and how well they execute them. This is also the first year I've watched the tournament in no small part due to the high quality feeds that are available.

Hi CCP Claw!
I am a fleet warfare grunt although I very rarely actually show up to fleet fights since my computer can't really handle them, and I prefer soloing and small gang warfare anyway. Started out living in 0.0, then moved back to empire for a long time, now back in 0.0 again. Done a lot of mission running, don't really do any of that anymore since I can make more money out in null anyway. Never done even the slightest bit of industry.
I watch the tournament because it's the #1 source of "good fights", artifically rules restricted as it is, and because the commentary is usually at least interesting. Also because this year I get to fly in it for the first time! \o/ ________________
