I just wanted to make mention that it seems that the smuggling mechanic seems to have changed since the new patch. My typically invulnerable smuggler fit condor managed to garner 6 fines within 18 jumps for a grand total 12MISK. Previous to the patch I have jumped thousands of gates with boosters on board with only 2 fines. What has changed in the Customs Equation?

:( Turns out smuggling isn't a good profession for me anymore :/
Was running gates in my Taranis (Stolen) usually gets me through with no fines. I was hit with 4 fines in less then 10 minutes. ------------------------

At least when CCP dumps a crap on the players of there game they dont leave anyone out this time :) Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

I don't regularly carry contraband in high-sec, but I do keep an eye on the NPCs around gates to get an idea of activity (mainly watching to see if CONCORD is about).
I have noticed a large increase in the prevalence of both Faction Navy and Customs NPCs on high sec gates recently. ______________________ Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University |

I can confirm that smuggling is now much more difficult.
And customs are around each gate except one, in high sec systems; around each gate of +1.0 systems; always there in systems with only one gate.
Still, there is a way. -- Erik |

Time for CCP to dust off some non-public Trade skills:
1) Black Market Trade: Skill at forging cargo manifests and disguising contraband cargo. From a base of 90%, each level of skill reduces chance of contraband detection by 10%. 2) Smuggling: Proficiency at laying low and avoiding unwanted attention. From a base of 90%, each level of skill reduces by 10% the likelihood of being scanned while transporting contraband.

I am also smuggling very often. My advise is, that you should transfer the illegal items in your ships tummy from there to an orca's corporation hangars. Nobody can scan, what is in there. Even customs can't. Smuggling in Eve is more interesting when bringing goods through blockades in war zones. Highsec Smuggling is, well, smuggling entry level. Use corp hangars :)

You only need to smuggle into the first hisec entry system, then switch to an Orca.

Which was considered an exploit according to one post i saw. Can't find it right now.
I posted a bug report and was told it is working as intended and they forgot to put it into the patch notes. So Stealth nerf FTW.
Also if you use boosters, do notice you now also get penalties more often, usualy two, sometimes three.
