Living in Australia, we have pretty severe bandwidth caps. I have downloaded the Eve client to my PC in full, and now it seems to use it on the mac I would have to download the full client again, when from what I read it is essentially the PC client in a wrapper. Is it possible to get a wrapper only / installer only download, or somehow to transfer files from the PC to the Mac so that it isn't required to download the full client again? Maybe with the move to Steam? (It is possible to do this with Portal etc)

No its not Possible.. You have to download the full client. And unlike Eve Portal resp. the Source Engine is a native port. No wrapper around there.

If you have the Mac client and you really really know what you are doing, you may be able to extract a PC client from that. But there's no download for that gives you only the cider files and structure to build a mac client from a PC client (besides: if there was, would you be able to hack the mac bundle together from those and the PC files? you surely cannot ask for help when doing such a thing).

No there's no way to do that, furthermore the Mac and Windows clients are not identical. There are .dll's in the Windows client that we can't distribute on the Mac (f.ex: DirectX and C runtimes amongst others). As a result even assuming you could inject the Windows client into the Cider wrapper, the end result would be unpredictable if not outright broken.

Some of us that are dumber than dirt use multiple clients depending on what we are doing as stability and speed rarely go hand in hand. If you take the windows client and run it in wine, it will work just fine and wine is a quick and easy download.
I, personally have stopped doing this with Tyrannis as it is pretty stable for me, and I want the "Mac" vote to be counted. If there are enough, CCP may lose their mind and develop a Mac client.
