Too much useless clicking!
Ideas to fix:
- Dropping a pin automatically creates link to next closest pin (you can always delete and link elsewhere)
- Clicking a extractor automatically starts survey and gives route option to command center, closest storage, closest processor (you can always re-route). Add a little "remember setting" checkbox. One click does everything.
- Add a extractors tab to command center, show all extractors, their status and a checked checkbox next to the ones not currently extracting. Click "Start Extraction", done
- Make processors scan and show list of pins receiving materials they require with a "create route from this pin" preselected, 1 click create routes
Your turn...

We have a Features and Ideas Discussion section for a reason. The Assembly Hall in the CSM section is also an alternative place to post this.

I agree - enough to bump this on the main forums. First off CCP - I love it overall, very kick *ss guys.
HoweverWAAAAY TOO much clickity for no good reason.
ò The drop down info from action menus (survey/product/rout) need to stay open between building AND action selections. Why does that close anyway?
ò Multiple Building ROUT function. Routing 9 extractors to the same processor - Click-expand-product-rout-click-confirm-ONE, Click-expand-product-rout-click-confirm-TWO (Its more fun typing it than it is actually doing it.)
ò Multiple survey among similar extractors
ò General Colony Control and multiple building/group command functions. =========================

You have to click "submit" way too much I thought. I guess that's the database commit, though so I'm not sure how they'd fix it. Establishing routes was REALLY not intuitive to try and figure out...once I did it made sense though. As usual, there's a bit of a learning curve to conquer.

You do know that 'submit' adds up all changes up until you click it and does not need to be clicked for every single change? -------- All I want is a better mankind.

Well, I'd say for click related problems, I found it kinda annoying that ctrl-clicking always starts a link. So you can't just hold ctrl and click each building in your route to link them up in a chain.
For a less clicking related complaint, I'm already kinda fed up with waiting for the constant fading, resizing widows that open up for each 'tab'. It looks snazzy and all, but its just wasting my (not so precious) time heh.

You usually only link a pin once, so pretty much unneeded

Already added. Double-click the extractor. This should open the survey screen. Select new deposit and done. Routing information doesn't change between surveys, so no need to update.

/signed on the list with quickjump feature and "working/not working"-tab But the rest is not needed imho.

This would actually be nice, but make that 2 clicks (in case you want to change the amount)

No, I did not know that. Go figure. I suppose it would have killed CCP to make that clear though.

Why would you automate something you only need to do once every 24 hours and on initial colony setup???
The amount of people who would rather want carpal tunnel in order to avoid 10 sorry chinese macroers to earn some extra isk is amazing.
The PI UI is terrible. For example when browing schematics it is rather cumbersome having to scroll down each time you've selected something.

I disagree with OP. PI UI is quite good, we don't need further work on it (that is, bettes is to spend manpower on other things).
The OP is probably unaware of some features. Double Clicking can shorten procedures a lot. And submit should not be clicked too often.

i'm amazed at how people playing a COMPUTER game are complaining about clicking... have you ever PvP'd? there is a lot of clicking involved in that also.

I would be happy, if the 2 fixed sec "SCANNING" windows were removed. If you have 100 extractors its 200 sec stupid waiting...

Edited by: RazorDreamz on 10/06/2010 03:10:53 Some of the basic problems with PI have already been solved in other games...
Multiple Select Why can't we simply drag a rectangle around multiple extractors to select them and have a change applied to one apply to them all?
Arming Why do we always need to click submit after each change. Trading systems handle this by implementing a toggle like a checkbox to make submits "armed" where a single click will do a transaction. If we can do it when trading in RL on the stock market I think we can handle it in a game.
Transparency Why can't you see the exact cost before you perform the action?
Layout Mode Right now you can almost layout an entire colony then submit it. You can do everything except setup the command center and the extractors... why? Let us set it all up then hit apply to make it final.
*EDIT* Upgrade There needs to be a way to upgrade a command center without deleting the whole colony.
Tranfers from Launchpads? Transfers from Launchpads have horrible wait times. I moved a bunch of product and it told me I couldn't do it again for 17 hours! If it said 10 minutes that would be annoying enough but 17 hours??
