While I'm all for this project, I don't really like that the progress in the screensaver is kind of 3D... I want the classic SETI@Home screen back

What sort of client is it, and what hardware are you running it on?

Although the latest GPU client does not perform as well on ATI cards as it does on Nvidia cards, it is fairly stable for most WUs. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

Could be several reasons don't want to bog down Eve's forums focusing on a particular problem rather retain it for recruitment and bragging rights. The folding forums can be of great help and are pretty responsive... though more detailed info on your exact setup/client is necessary to troubleshoot. I never said this would be painless :) Give us some general info and we can point you in the right direction without a doubt and sometimes rare a WU is just bad though the client usually takes care of it and you still get credit.

Update 37 active and our team rank is now moving up when I started this rejuvenated campaign our team rank was iirc 1121 and now we have pushed up to 1104... good job guys keep those WU's coming in.
Just a reminder post a link to the forum thread in your bio or hit up your corp mates and lets add some more fresh blood err idle cycles rather to the cause, there could always be Corp sub-teams with multiple members reporting to a single member such as... all the members of Corp "Leet Noobs With Spankin Velators" using the same member name to compete within our global team. I appreciate all contributions and encourage one up manship and bragging rights, though I do not condone or support cherry picking of WU's or any action that would negatively impact the project.
Happy folding and keep up the good work.

Indeed I do, and the 960 doesn't have a chance to keep up, what with GPU work units being the way they are (611 points, takes about an hour to complete).
Still haven't bothered to compare the regular CPU client to SMP unfortunately and I'm currently out of town for a couple of days (which is why I'm racking up so many points now). Maybe when I get back I'll muster the strength to take a closer look at it. (yeah, right )

Up to 42 active and team score is def on the move now at 1049.
Can't seem to get a gpu client despite my best efforts to run on my 5750 but the team leaders are showing some wicked results with the gpu client. Almost makes me want to shell out some dosh and build a dedicated folding mini-farm. If this interests you bit-tech.net has some good articles on it... though a bit dated will help you get started, recommend the folding forums for the most up to date configs.
Want to throw out the call to any available cpu or gpu cycles to join us and pump up our numbers... going to add the http://kakaostats.com/t.php?t=75407 to the original post if I can (not sure on the edit options for Eve Forums) that is an awesome breakdown for our team.
Want to thank everyone again for their contributions and help in keeping it going. Feel like we should set some goals maybe active participants, new recruits, what are you ideas... post em up.

Woot got the 5750 folding finally tricky but its working, it can't compete with the NVidia cards but it is putting out some nice ppd. Also got the SMP client up and going so far it is out performing multiple uni-processor clients though it required manual cpu affinity sets to keep it from interfering with the gpu. So alot has changed with the F@H clients since I last tinkered with them.
We are still making some good progress and looks like we are going to shoot past a ton of teams here in the next week and break the 1k barrier within two weeks, some may be idle or dead but rank is rank
Forgot about the folding addiction and have been categorizing spare parts to see what kind of dedicated folder I can cobble together and spending way too much time on newegg looking at new kit.
Thanks again for the support. |

Nice job guys... really cranking out the WU's... want to encourage everyone to join us as we push across the 1k point barrier this week.. GO Eve-Online Folding Team!!!
Looking for new recruits to join the fray and propel the team up in rank... of course its not just about rank it's about supporting a cause or a call however you look at it... donate your spare cpu/gpu cycles. Everyone with that latest Fermi kit you too can make a massive contrib with the new gpu client supporting your hardware still beta but massive point potential none the less.
Huge thanks to all the current supporters in keeping it alive.

Would run the CPU client but the single core and the SMP client give pitiful performance, so I declined.

Running the SMP client on my Phenom 965 (stock) I get about 1200ppd there is a bonus system that kicks in after 10 or so units... I think don't quote me on that :) I have the ATI gpu client running as well but it has been unable to get jobs consistently over the past week so I reverted my cpu affinity back to allow the smp to fold on all four cores, running gpu/smp had to limit it to 3 cores or it would stall the gpus progress. If I get a gpu unit I just drop it back to 3 but even on 3 cores I get around 700ppd. Sadly your lone vid card can outperform both my gpu/smp clients in ppd... maybe gpu3 for ati will drop soon
Glad your on board and thanks for the help.
Edit --> according to Kakao you were the 2nd highest point producer in the last 24hr.

And there it is: 1000! \o/
Not sure where we'll level out with the teams ahead of us, but it seems to be a long way to go still.
Unfortunately I've decided to take a break, to say that it's hot enough as it is would be an understatement and I don't need my computer making it worse. Hopefully it'll cool down a bit soon... (and spare me the snarky comments about Swedish summer weather not being hot at all compared to Whereeveryouliveistan - it's well over 40 C hotter than it was six months ago and I honestly preferred that)
But rest assured Kazuo, I'm coming for you. First place will be mine!

As defiler said there it is and went we broke the team rank of 1000 and are moving down into more populated teams, our rank is still moving and with your help we can keep up the progress.
Thanks to all the contributors who helped us make this milestone and to all those who still contribute, will contribute, has/is/going/wassn/hassn etc contribute to the team effort and the overall effort of Folding@Home.
Will set a new milestone soon want it to be an achievable goal but at the same time a challenge to the community.
Thanks again to everyone.

Due to laziness (and being at work), what client should I get with:
i7 920 & ATI HD5850 Toxic?
Also, how much bandwidth does this take? I'm in lol-stralia, where we still have monthly download limits. |
