Hey all.
So I joined Eve about a week or two ago, upgraded to full membership and love this game so much! Its so much fun but I ran into a spot of bother over the past few days.
My mate who plays gave me a 35mil Isk boost to start out and it was going great but I now find my self in a position of poverty. Before you click out of this thread I am not here to ask for isk don't worry.
How do I earn isk in enough quantities to support myself? I find myself in a situation where I can't afford anything!
Whenever I lose a ship it takes me ages to replace it, missions don't seem to pay out enough isk to support me?
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there anyway to make isk faster? Like a isk bank? Or something....
Thanks for any help. Tama |

First off, DO NOT EVER listen to anyone who reminds, is or has been a goon failura..
2nd, I also found myself in problems making ISK in highsec- But if you get into a BC and skill up you will start to make some isk, not alot but enough to replace your ship in 2-3 days actually. And if you add a Noctis salvaging on that, you can sometimes get up to 50mil from a single lv3 mission done in a drake. |

Well, you shouldn't be losing that many ships in missions, but of course as you're learning though, you'll tend to lose more but that's expected. Also low level missions don't provide nearly as much isk as level 4s will once you can run them comfortably. It basically boils down to you just being new to the game. The only thing that would be wrong for you at this point is not learning.
Early on, isk isn't so easy to make, but with some learning, practice, and some skills your income will steadily increase. Just try not to get discouraged. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has angered numerous people for many different reasons and is widely considered as a 'bad move'. |

Well, you might want to start with a bit of reading first : http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=774785
In your first few weeks of EVE, you're unlikely to make a lot of ISK fast, since you lack the in-game skills, equipment, standings and more importantly, the human player skills needed to earn ISK in an efficient manner. It gets better later on. MUCH better.
For instance, you're probably still running L2 missions, or at best, maybe L3 missions in an inefficient manner. L2 mission payout is quite lousy, and even blitzing highsec L3 missions with a well-fit ship and high skills won't get to too much ISK. It's when you start being able to run L4 missions with ease that the ISK revenue starts getting significant.
Then again, mission-running is just one of the many ways to earn ISK, and for quite a few people, it's quite boring, at least after properly getting the hang of it (mining probably being the only one universally thought of as more boring). On the other hand, some people find even mining relaxing, and other people ignore the routine of L4 mission-running for the ISK benefits it can bring. So, you know, 1000 people, 1001 opinions. Heh.
Again, at least browse the linked thread above - there are plenty of ways to earn ISK, and you don't have to limit yourself to just one of them. For instance, you could be running missions whenever you're around, visiting your PI colonies briefly on a daily basis, while also occasionally updating your market orders (even while in the middle of a mission, as you're pounding on a larger enemy ; or maybe while looting and salvaging the remains afterwards), starting a few manufacture jobs whenever some of your slots are free, collecting whatever RP accrued on your research agents on a weekly or monthly basis. You know, just an idea http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Contributor_name:Akita_T#Contributions_link_collection |

That's why I never give new players too much isk - it spoils them.
No offense intended - but 35 mill is supposed to be a lot of money for a one-week character and the ingame cash flow for a new character is nimble compared to that.
Back when I started, I lost a punisher after a week or so - of course isk value was way higher back then, but it was almost everything I had and I almost ragequit over it.
So if you managed to burn 35 mill within a week or two even with the cheap ships you're able to fly, it's a clear sign you've been spoiled by it - that's like a decadent kid driving ferraris into walls all day long because it never learned about the value of money due to mom paying it all.
Concerning the question if you do something wrong: Yeah - probably - you obviously lose way more than you can afford to replace at your current income.
Rule # 1 in Eve: only lose what you can afford to replace.
(and on a side note: may I ask how you managed to lose all these ships?). morons-áare recruiting. We're good at breeding! |

What are you doing that you lost 35M ISK in a couple of weeks?
If you're losing ships in missions, you might want to follow the mission survival guides. If you're just spending money faster than you make it, you could try spending ISK slower, or making ISK faster.
There's plenty of good reading in the New Citizens Useful Threads page of the EVElopedia.
But it does come back to that question of why you're losing 35M ISK in a couple of weeks. Tell us what you've been up to: we might be able to offer more specific advice.

This. All the way.
You shouldnt even be seeing that kind of money until maybe level 3 missions. And being only 2 weeks old, I doubt youre even doing level 2s. Doing level 1s, you should be able to make about 1 mil in an hour, in just pure isk. A frigate shouldnt cost you more than 500k. Youre either playing very carelessly or buying the most expensive things on the market because you assumed you could make that kind of money in the first week of playing.
As to not get your hopes down, there are cash barriers in this game. It may seem like youre grinding level 1s forever just to get a shiny new ship, but once youre able to fly bigger ships and do level2s, 3s, and 4s, you will see your income go up exponentially. Dont give up just because your friend spoiled you. |

I suspect the ISK was meant to be used for skill books. At that age in game you should have no trouble replacing your ships unless you are fit horribly.
Ask your friend to help you fit a ship and tell you what skills you should have trained to fly it well. Also get them to watch you play. When my son started he kept loosing ships....I got on and the mission was easy mode on his character....the difference was he didn't realize you had to click the module to make the shield booster replenish his shields.
A few key skills in defense, and making sure your ships resists are effective against the current mission and you should be golden.
The ISK comes with time....6 million at your game age is a fortune

If you have a thick skin post a screen shot of your transaction log.
running level 1's and2's requires a frigate or destroyer. As long as you are not buying over priced meta 4 items you should be making enough isk to replace your ship every few missions. Where has all the isk gone?
There is plenty advice above which will help you stop losing ships. Once you are in a BC running level 3's you will be able to make some serious isk and can start thinking about pimping out your ship with the best items, PVP and new shiny toys |

I would also recommend you post more details.
Specifically:
- What did you spend 35 mil isk on? Give general info like: "About 10 mil was spent on skillbooks, while rest was spent on a frigate with a small centii c-type armor rep." Or something other.
- What do you currently do to earn isk?
- What are your plans and interests? (Perhaps there is a good way to earn ISK in a way that you will find more fun!)

You're in Broken Toys , who are a utter failure of an alliance led by TERRIBLE TERRIBLE idiots who have absolutely no clue what they are doing.
You lost it all in PVP ( http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Tama+Kaede#losses ) because, again, they are terrible idiots and you're not experienced enough to know any better.
My advice?
Leave them, work out the game, then join a half decent corp / alliance.
It also looks from your kills, like you can bait in Jouvulen (a starter system) so you pretty much need to ******* biomass right now. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Jouvulen is not Starter System, but Career Agent system. However canbaiting in all 24 Rookie Systems (Starter Systems and Career Agent systems) is against rules and can be reported to GMs as harrasment.
Some people don't seem to know that Career Agent systems are also considered Rookie Systems. Carebear -á* -áTrader -á* -áPerfect Music-á-á* -áNever Scamming -á* -áNever Pirating |

My understanding is that biomassing a character because it has a low security standing is a bannable offense.

Then you fail at understanding. It is not a bannable offence to biomass a character because it has a low security standing - it is, however, an offence to constantly recycle alts so that the sec status penatly is circumvented.

Nope I've been playing for a few years now and I'm always skint. Depends what you want if you want shiny shiny your going to need lots of isk, if you don't want shiny shiny like me you make enough to cover your losses buy another ship and continue.
skill up for a drake, shield skills and heavy missle skills start lvl'3 missions and the isk will start flowing nicely. God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

Excellent advice.
I use my Drakes (two of them, different rigs being the motivation for owning/flying two) solo in LVL4 mission'ing (minus "bonus rooms", like in Angel Extravaganza).
Not as fast to clear a mission as a properly configured Battleship .. but, they get the job done.
