Several threads have mentioned switching the extractors to a really short time when they are going to be on line for a while. I thought this was a great idea and decided to try it also. I can't for the life of me though figure out how to switch cycle times with out deleting the extractors and starting over.
Clicking on the extractor survey just generates a message saying it is already extracting something. Is there a way to change the cycle time on the extractors with out deleting them and starting over?

You can reset it when the extractor is finishes with its current cycle. Your choices every time are 30 min, 5 hours, 23 hours or 96 hours. Whichever one you choose you wait until its over and then set a new one.

Hit cancel instead of submit if not sure you did the right thing or delete afterwards are only choices to stop

The real answer here is to plan ahead and go with shorter cycles.
Example:
Normally you set xtractors to 23h cycle, then go to bed. But next day you think you may be back from work early, so you set them to 5h cycle. OK, the cycle produces less than 23h, but it leaves you with the option to run another cycle. So if you do get back from work early, you run another 5h cycle which finishes before you go to bed, and produce more than a single 23h would. In the big picture it doesn't matter if your extractors sit idle for a while, since you still end up producing considerably more.

I think part of the initial question was "do extractors have an off button?" and the answer is no they do not. People short cycle extractors by waiting for them to finish their present deposit, then setting them on a short time one. Two 5-hour runs a day get more stuff than one 23-hour, even though the extractors are idle for 14 hours.
This resetting of the extractor time is a known bug? Should I bug report it? I got some extractors set to the 96 hour time, and I do not want them there, but I don't want to throw them away either.

All bugs must be reported, or else will we have them in the game for the rest of our lifes. The more people report a bug the better. Then it gets done. Duplicate bug reports do not matter as they can get deleted quickly by the bug hunters. Sometimes the description of a bug sucks and having multiple reports can give a better picture of the problem, too. Report it! --

I had once a stray rogue extractor who took extra 18 hours to run its 23 hours cycle. However when I reset all other extractors to new 23 hours cycle and pushed confirm button I notice the bandit suddenly forgot its 18 hours and did rest to 0. Of course I promptly set it for 23 hours too and pressed confirm button yet again.
