This is why I never tell anyone things like my passwords or PIN numbers. If I were to get married someday, I'd still not tell her my codes, and I wouldn't expect or want her to tell me hers either.

He never logged out in the first place. He left his character logged in, all she had to do was return to the character screen (AKA Log out) which means she never needed to know the password in the first place. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I feel the same way. I don't see a need to give someone access to my email or Facebook (Myspace for some people) accounts. My accounts are MY accounts for a reason. Same goes for any of my games.
These sort of became less humorous a year ago. Also the fact that she knows what to delete and how to on the toons are a little disconcerting. haha.

Looks like she keeps typing in a password to me though. I've never played that game, so I don't know what else she could be doing.

In order to delete Characters and high class items, you need to actually type in a DELETE confirmation to a popup window.
It's the same every time you delete a char/high class item. Delete, delete, delete. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

She needs to get out of that relationship, the guy is violent.
If thats how he thinks its ok to react to such a thing then I'm sure he'll be violent to other things too.
What she did was bad, his reaction = disgusting

Tbh,
Firstly, it could be fake.
Secondly, smashing a computer screen because you lost ALOT of time & work and the related anger isnt that unreasonable.
Hell, if i got home & my mrs had burned my last two years worth of paintings, would it be that unreasonable if i kicked the crap out of my art desk?
The anger would be comparable.
Yes wow sucks, and yes its a load of horse crap.
But time invested is still time invested, paiting, playing instruments, gaming, reading, writing, watching films, socialising are all pointless in the grand sceme of things.
so is work, religion & politics.
To be totally objective you need to see that there isnt any meaning in anything people, just whatever you personally place within each activity.
I mean personally i think people who cry because there team loses a match in a sport as ******s.

If someone deleted years worth of work I had done they would be extremely lucky if all I did was hospitalize them. His reaction wasn't that bad considering how much he lost. People have been killed over stuff like that.

Umm, in EVE, it's a ~10h timer (and only works if your "assailant" knows the login details), but you can deal irreparable damage much easier and faster than that (with no need for user/pass) if you're left logged in by trashing all assets, wasting all ISK on market order broker fees and then by self-destructing your capsule with no clone repeatedly, etc.
It's either a fake vid, or the guy is a waste of genetic material.
Let's put it like this : my character (this one, in EVE) is probably worth (all things considered, assets and everything) somewhere upwards of 300 bil ISK at a bare minimum, most likely more. That's an equivalent of 1000+ months of gametime, or at a bare minimum 10k real-life cash equivalent if you consider it at 1-year CC payments exchange level. Even at a quite-high in-game "grinding" revenue of 100 mil ISK per hour, that's also 3000 man-hours, or one and a half years of no-vacation full-time job's worth. At a lowball laughable less-than-minimum-wage equivalent, that's around 20k in real-life money. So, basically, let's underestimate that to, oh, I don't know, 15000 USD or thereabouts. I'd get upset if I came and my character was gone, you can be damn sure, but I would not under any circumstances make it worse by smashing up hardware. That's illogical. I would try to find out what happened, I would try to see if there's any "damage control" to be done, and eventually, if nothing works, well, tough luck. I'll be annoyed and cranky for a while, but that's about it.
Now ask yourself this : if you HAD 15k USD in savings in the bank, how exactly would you react if you "lost" them somehow ? What if it was 15k USD literally under the mattress, and somebody made a nice little pyre out of them in the middle of the room ? Would you go to your TV and roundhouse kick it ? Or throw it out the window ? Or maybe set fire to your wallet ? Or any other unreasonable reaction like that ? If yes, I have a feeling you'd be throwing the TV out the window if you favourite team lost the match of whatever sport you like to watch.

For whatever reason, she did not want him playing the mmo anymore. The video really made me sad more than anything...the guy definitely needs some help. IMHO there are better ways to treat a loved one's addiction than doing what she did AND making a video to post on the internet. I pity their relationship

It's plausible, if dumb. Boyfriend probably puts everything together ('that wench, she deleted my stuff! RAAAAAEG'), smashes monitor and screams like an idiot for 10 minutes, sulks for several days, buys new monitor, gets stuff fixed. girlfriend definitely took the wrong route smashing his internet pixels but
anyhow, the true moral of this story is to compromise with your significant other about your internet elves/spaceships/whatever time and together time so you don't resent her and she doesn't resent you. Or get them addicted too. _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |
