So, I've got myself a fitted interdictor with sphere launchers loaded with warp disrupt probes. But how does it actually work ? Like an sb bomb ? How long do the bubbles last ? I know there are other kinds of bubbles that can be anchored. How do those work ? Any other tips and advice ? Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Hello,
An Interdictor bubble probe is shot out at a target, gate, etc and after a second or 2 it pops and the bubble is up. I don't know for how long tbh. Someone else can prob tell you. I would say 30-45 seconds ish.
A Heavy Interdictor has a module that you hit and a bubble forms around the ship for as long as you have cap. It's size is based on your Hictor skills. The higher the level the bigger the bubble.
Anchorable bubbles are small, med, large t1 and t2. After you anchor them they can only be taken down but being unanchored or destroyed. Ofc the larger the size the larger the radius of the bubble. And T2 or bigger than T1's.

Thanks, very useful. I gather that the warp disruptor bubble will last 120 sec. Do I need to fire at a target or do I fire blind like with an sb bomb ? Can the anchorable bubbles be reused ? Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Anchorable bubbles can be reused at any time, you just have to unachor them and scoop them back up. They work just like anchorable cans but after they anchor a few seconds later they deploy a bubble.
I have never used a dictor bubble but I assume it would launch like a bomb, you shoot it out and it deploys itself. But don't take my word for it as I haven't used one. I use the HIC instead, so much easier that my bubble follows me . The wiki says this. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. You fire a dictor bubble like a bomb.

Warp Disrupt Probes are launched exactly like you would a normal Scan Probe - click on the launcher, probe pops out, bubble in space appears.
1. No targetting required. 2. Not launched in any direction (unlike bombs) so, no need to be 'aimed' at a celestial or the target (though moving towards the target is good). 3. Lasts for 120 seconds. 4. Cannot be used in 0.1 and above space. 5. Have no impact on the launching ship(s) speed or ability to receive RR (unlike the HIC bubble). 6. Have a flat 20km range, regardless of your Interdictors skill level (this affects how quick you can fire ANOTHER WDP from the same launcher).
Anchorable Bubbles: Can be launched from ANY ship that can fit them in their cargohold. Requires the Anchoring Skill at various levels (Anchoring 3 for T1 large iirc) They sit in space like a GSC and you have to tell them to anchor. Range is variable based on the size of the bubble (10km for Small up to 45km for T2 large). They last until they get blown up or you unanchor and remove them.
Whether in a gang or solo, don't neglect to fit tackle to your dictor. Just because the target can't warp away from you until he's out of the bubble, doesn't mean he's immobile. WAIT to launch the bubble until the target appears on your overview from his gatecloak. This will stop him warping AND kill his speed, making him easier to catch.

You can also fit 2 launchers. Great for bubbling the gate, jumping through and bubbling the other side in case they run . Also remember the bubble starts with you in the center of it, so make sure to have a speed boost(AB or MWD) so you can get out of it. Also, plan on replacing the ship a lot, they are paper thin, and are often a primary target.

When you launch the bubble, when someone tries to warp inside the bubble, you as the owner of the bubble have now aggression. So smart people will try to warp and prevent you from jumping.

Lag takes it's toll, of course, but I believe the effect is immediate while the animation of the bubble expanding takes a second or two.

This is actually true both ways. If someone attempts to warp to the grid (i.e. gate) where the bubble is and will get caught by the bubble, it triggers aggression. For example, I'm sitting at gate A and drop a bubble.. bob the builder jumps into system at gate B and initiates warp to gate A. Since bubble is active, I become aggressed the moment he initiates warp.

You also have a brief few second or two of aggression after deploying the bubble. I encountered this while experimenting with my first dictor. I launched the bubble and immediately hit jump and got the denied due to aggression message. I clicked it again and it let me jump. No other ships around me either (else it would've been the full minute). I forgot to mention that you are in fact reading something that is called a signature. |

It is a good video, possibly a bit outdated since it was made in 2007, but is mostly still accurate. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two. |

Whilst we're on the topic of the bubble and aggression, note that the act of launching the bubble whilst an enemy is in it DOES NOT get you a flag. You only get a flag once he tries to warp away.
So, no; lazy dictor pilots don't get a killmail just for dropping a bubble. Equally, if your gang consists of a bunch dual-sebo'd Zealots and they vapourise the target before you can get a lock and he didn't try to warp, you don't get one either

Yeah, it's outdated a bit. You can no longer do the "interdiction manuever" which is to initiate warp -> drop bubble -> peel out in a Camaro. Now dropping a bubble cancels warp.
Still a pretty decent introduction. Unless someone knows of something better. |
