Edited by: cyndrogen on 16/06/2010 17:14:23 I would really like to see PI templates, similar to the way a ship fitting can be saved I would really like to have a way to save my factory chains.
For example to produce nanite repair paste it takes 6 planets to gather the resources and manufacture them, once I have set everything up I would like to save this as a template, so for example on a Storm planet I could save my template and if I decide to switch to a new planet I can simply destroy my command center but preserve the layout.
The only thing I would need to do on my next planet is select targets for my layout and everything would get setup the same as I had it on a different storm planet. I would simply click and place hotspots on my resources that I wish to extract and the entire production line including links and routes would be setup as it was on another world.
Basically it's similar to fitting because it allows you to preserve all your links, routes and structures. You still have to pay for everything but you don't need to waste time laying out everything from scratch when you know exactly how you want your setup to work.
Pi has a lot of potential and I look forward to where it goes from here. Good job.

I don't understand how this would work. You have hot spots in all kinds of configurations. Would the resultant "template" object be stretchable? I think it's a whole lot of coding for just a little bit of click savings. I'd rather they focus on the day-to-day clicking rather than the setup clicking.

Originally by: Seminole Sun I don't understand how this would work. You have hot spots in all kinds of configurations.
You can have templates for "extraction hubs" (storage surrounded by extractors) and "main base hubs" (spaceport surrounded by factories) with pre-set routing and schematics (for individual planet types and manufacture options), afterwards all you'd have to do is plop down the main base anywhere, then either put down some "extraction hubs" in the general area of hotspots or manually place extractors, then just place one link from storage to spaceport and add routes from storage to factories. A lot of clicks saved that way. And if they're public, either game-built-in or corp-wide templates, that makes it easier for newer people that can see it to understand how to do it.
P.S. Yeah, and there's the "processing only" colonies without any extractors, like the person above mentioned.

I'd like to see such templates for production chains/planets. It makes it alot easier and faster to switch production and react to the market.
Or creating multiple routes at the same time. Recruiting │My 3rd Party Service |
