What .. "serious Grid issues"?? Which cruiser has even MORE grid than this one?? :-0 Most cruisers don't even have 1,000 .. let alone 1,420!?

You should try it sometime, they're surprisingly effective and fun. Well, you know, presuming you know how to work with off-kilter ships/setups. A surprisingly large number of people wouldn't know how to do so if you handed them a pre-made ship, battle plans for every mission in the game, and even volunteered to coach them over vent/TS.

Yeah, kinda hard to see how the ashimmu could possibly have grid problems. I mean its output is only 80mw lower than the harbinger which is a battlecruiser, and it's higher than any other sub-BS T1 ship in the game. Hell, it's better than every sub-CS T2 ship and 30mw higher than the claymore while only 5mw lower than the eos.
Really the only way you could have power grid issues with the ashimmu is if you try to put 3 MARs on it. It'll handle dual rep. with afterburner, T2 beams, and T2 vampires/neutralizers without grid support just fine. Even with a really bad bait ship setup you'd only need a 1% grid implant to make it work.

Hey cool look at this, a harb fitting that does exactly the same thing(10% more dps, 10% slower, same ehp) for 50M, with three empty low slots to do whatever the hell you want with, including making it faster than the Ashimmu, making it lock faster, giving it a plate and having more EHP, making it do /way/ more dps, etc.

Edited by: Shereza on 19/06/2010 23:59:18 While the harbinger would be a more cost-effective platform it doesn't have the webber or cap warfare bonuses so it doesn't do quite exactly the same thing as the ashimmu, and the EHP argument gets slightly skewed by the fact that it's got just over twice the signature radius. On the one hand if you're taking fire from frigates and cruisers the higher signature radius won't matter too much, but against battleships it'll likely matter a good deal as, purely for example, an extra 20% or 30% EHP doesn't help if you take 40% more damage.

You can double the ashimmu's EHP with the harb, which more than makes up for the sig difference.
Regardless, it's a moot point, as you should be flying a Curse or Pilgrim in the first place. ________ Chicago players channel: 'Windy City'

Does it do 1K DPS? If no, it's not effective (read: it doesn't farm missions fast). It's fun for people who want "more challenge" out of PVE (which is lolz in many ways, but ok).
Curse, Ashimmu, Pilgrim you name it, are PVP ships (OK, Ashimmu is trash, but ideally speaking). The fact you can run missions in them (you can actually do it in a wolf, won't see anyone calling it a L4 mission ship) is not important/relevant in a ship balance discussion.

Just a couple of questions. When did you start needing 1k DPS for L2 or even L3 missions and when did effectively start to mean the same thing as efficiently? I would ask how many ships can pull off 1k rDPS with efficient setups that don't rely on billions of isk, but I already know the answer is not many.

Good thing this isn't a topic about ship balance.

wait wut, when did trimarks and armor plates increase sig? or are you implying its not capable of a high enough transversal against a bs

Point is generally valid and true, most people should put themselves in a curse, however, people generally run when they see a curse, an ashimmu is tastier bait than a harb, and can better guarantee something will stay tackled when your buddies arrive. Also, bombs.
Or do ya just wana eft warrior some more?

Cool, everyone is rushing to buy Curses and Ashimmus to run L2 and L3 missions, because L2 and L3 missions make awesome ISK and Curse and Ashimmu are so great at it. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Not with the current Ashimmu no.
The old one ran out of CPU and grid so fast you couldn't even fit it with T2 only, it required you use Faction and Meta4 T1 to make it fit, and even then you'd need to mix-and-match to squeeze every last CPU and Grid out of your mods to make it all fit. If you wanted T2 guns, faction fitting mods pretty much became mandatory.
The current Ashimmu is a breeze to fit in comparison and quite a nice mission boat too, just fuel the tank with NOS and let rip. Something the old one excelled at too, cap out in 3 minutes unless you NOS'd a rat, switching targets every 30 seconds or so to make sure they'd keep fuelling your ship.

I'm willing to bet a Slicer would run L2s against Sanshas/Bloods faster for cheaper (and look better just to add insult to injury).

No it doesn't!
The Ashimmu is mostly about looks, nothing wromg with flying it, it doesn't always have to be 100% efficiency or "bang for your bucks".

Which is why I still enjoy my Phantasm. But that's because... she's got the look.
