You don't have to search very long to find whines about kill mails not being generated.
Self destruct no kill mail
After many many years of this mechanic being around, it was apparently fixed a few months ago (I was out for a couple years).
Whine enough, and this too will be fixed. It certainly looks like an unintended bug, since above 20% structure you get a KM.
Ahhh, the days of whines/threadnaughts after a titan SDed to avoid generating a KM...... |

That is how its intended to work.
CCP replied to this once before, mentioning that it has something to do with the sudden broken link between the capsuleer and the t3 due to how they are integrated with one another closer than that of non tech 3 ships.
They went on to say that by ejecting, you can save yourself from that. |

They generate KM's now and this is a change that is fairly recent AFAIK. http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13995922

You haven't understand what this thread is about. This is not about Self Destruct. This is about ejecting from your ship when it has less than 20% structure left to exploit the bug of removing your Mechanic bonus from the ship (+25% Structure), which drives your ship structure value to a negative value and instantly pops the ship without generating a KM because the system didn't register a final blow. |

I welcome threads like this. Maybe it will teach people that kill boards completely lack any sort of context in most combat situations.
I welcome this news, and it never even occurred to me you could do this. Well done. Real "winning" is getting the other guy to play your game the way you intend it...not numbers on a kill board. Karash Amerius Operative, Sutoka |

EVE is about objectives, not e-peen waving.
Actually Wardec'd corps and alliances take killmails pretty seriously because it contributes to deciding a winner in the conflict. |

If I was going to lose the T3 anyway I might do this to save the training time on subsystems, why not? Doubt I'd think about it in the middle of a fight though and the timing to do it at below 25% structure would be difficult. Usually structure goes pretty fast. |

I think it's a good mechanic especially considering how difficult it is to pull off under some circumstances. Unfortunately the only time I have gotten a T3 blown up I wasn't thinking about it at the time, but whatever was I going to do with Amarr Electronic Subsystems V anyway? I don't even fly that ship anymore. EVE's 4th of July Fireworks |

It would be very difficult to achieve with a squishy ship. Which is why on the two occassions that I have witnessed this it was both with Command Ships. |
