Originally by: Franklin Gordon Hi all,
I am desparate get some ISK so I can buy some implants so I can get my skills up on Industry 5 and then Mining Barge 3. ATM it says it going to take another 2 days to get but I have already been waiting to get my skills up so I want it asap
I am tempted to buy some gametime and sell it on the market place and then by the implants to speed up my skills but part of me is feeling like it's wrong even though I know it's not as it can be sold ingame.
Is it worth it me buying the implants to speed up? Atm I have about 7mil and the run at about 80-100 mil each.
Any advice please as I want my skill up nowish

never post again
Thanks all.

Edited by: Slavemaster on 27/06/2010 07:49:59 Man, If you need isk get plex and everyone is happy. Plex should be around 250 Imo. And, we dont need to create a standard where selling Plex is bad..
So... Go get plex and sell it, and tell your friends to do the same.
- Winners Sell Plex
In fact; if you get plex now before they hit 250, you can Invest in it

Yes I agree. Please sell as many PLEX as you want, my account doesn't pay for itself y'know.
Well actually it does, but only if you keep funding it.

Originally by: Diraus Omega how are you going to knock 2 days off a 2 days skill? industry even taking it from level 1 to 5 only takes 2 days to learn and if you already have the mining barge skill its only a couple of hours to get to level 3 so you gonna save at best 1-2 hours over the course of 2 days.
How are you training 256,000 SP in 2 days?

+5 implants? Those aren't worth it unless you're a billionaire with nothing left to buy. For us mere mortals +3 works just fine and won't bankrupt you if you get podded. They only cost about 10-15 million. 1 or 2 extra attribute points won't benefit you nearly as much as having an extra 500 million ISK will.

Edited by: Ratchman on 28/06/2010 12:14:12 There's no sin here, as it is all official. Just make sure you do it through the EVE site. I've heard people complain about other sites and I know the main one works fine.
However, you do need to look into your motives for doing it. Frankly, shaving 2 days off the training time isn't it. I've been playing this game for years, and there are always more and more skills to learn. You just have to learn to be patient.
If you haven't done so already, training up your learning skills first. This will pay dividends in the long run, and will shave off an awful lot of time. Implants are nice, but you have to ask yourself whether it is worth the investment. OK, you shave off 2 days, but what is this time worth? How much do you make per hour?
And then there's sustainability. Clones get killed (and you will get killed, no matter where you are). Implants get lost. Replacements need to be bought. Over time, the implants could be costing you money, rather than helping you earn it. You just have to assess whether it is the right thing for you.
Another aspect here are the people egging you on to sell GTCs. They have a vested interest in you doing this, as the more people supply, the less each GTC will earn. And there's no guarantee that it will sell immediately either, because there will always be someone more desperate for ISK that will undercut you.
I've sold a few GTCs (not many, though, I don't want to spend too much real-life cash on this), and I have always made a decent profit off this (usually 50 million more per card than the majority) because I know where to sell, and when to sell. Being desperate to sell just means you get less bang for your buck.
As with everything in this game, patience is the key.
Another con is the fact that although starting out is a massive learning curve and a colossal pain in the arse, you do learn a fantastic amount doing it. Skipping a bit does mean you miss out on a few lessons, and ones that can cost you dearly later on. In PvP parlance, you can't appreciate an Ishkur if you haven't flown a Incursus.
Of course, the one pro is bleeding obvious: a massive infusion of money in seconds.

Edited by: Jion Tichy on 29/06/2010 10:12:31 When PLEX trading first came out it really bothered me, to the extent that it almost killed the game for me.
Then I came to the understanding that it is a mechanism allowing casual gamers to effectively subsidize the hard core. And it may in fact increase ISK liquidity in the game because it moves ISK out of the wallets of hardcore players and into the hands of people who don't know what to do with it...
