They were bad game design in the sense that the smartest move for new players is the least fun. CCP has said this.
Now they they have a mechanism to give out training I predict that they will shortly remove the learning skills from the game and reimburse time spent training them.
Probably this will coincide with another measure to universally increase the rate of learning skills.

I'm going to laugh at all you learning skill bandwagon posters who feel the need to pad their post counts with "YEAH LEARNINGS DOWN WITH LEARNINGS YEAH" (which is in essence all you say) if it turns out to be something not to do with learning skills.

They are going to "monitize" the Skill Points so you can BUY more via PLEXs or real currency.

NO THEY ARE NOT! CCP shadow has stated this. They really need to sticky his statements. FYI: comments were made in this thread http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1341909

Why? It's been predicted ever since the whole "SP redeeming" scheme was unveiled ù he just chose to spam a new thread about it. That part was a separate (and far more important) announcement to the gift, and we knew the gift would be a thing, rather than a mechanic, more or less from the get-go. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I dont read every buried post on this forum. And I definetly didnt read that. What i posted is just the rather obvious use and intention of this new tool for CCP.
Now if your just going to divine my inner most thoughts. Please post the ones concerning you so you can have a 2 week ban.
EDIT: As Tippia said its obvious to anyone with a clue that the ability to give SP is a far bigger deal than a the gift will be.

No, what you posted was Theorycrafting and bending the tool to fit the purpose. CCP Has not stated they have been are working on a way to remove skills and thus automatically reimburse the SP, only add SP. Quite a significant difference here.

Note that they could also use it on Sisi to help people do dev testing by just giving them the SP pool to help out. Or they could make it such that if you aren't actively training something that your SP accumulates into the pool instead of merely being wasted time.
It doesn't have to be a removal of learning skills, even if I think it would be better for the game and for noobs trying to play the game.

Learning removal was the first thing I thought after reading the blog too.
As a 5/5 trained character I'd love the 4 million or so skillpoints to go into something more useful.

I hope they do remove the learning skills - but only that. Just remove every learning skillbook from the game, so everybody who didn't already train them is stuck with their base attributes, plus implants. That way the whiners get exactly what they asked for, and I can do a laugh.

What's the ship bonus? A 5% reduction in clicks needed to manage a planet per skill level?
But seriously, is it supposed to be a cheap blockade runner type ship? Or just something to make hauling PI resources around without heavily skilling in industrial ships? Or will it provide a bonus to PI production rates? Or what?

Maybe it doesn't do anything,
Maybe it doesn't fit into your world view of "useful", like man nipples or Jeff Capes.
Maybe it's just a ship the art guys drew and modeled in their spare time out of love for their job.
Maybe CCP decided to give it to us just to say "hey, thanks for playing our game, heres a toy to play about with for a few days".
Maybe min maxing a FOTM character and getting 50+ guys on a gate while you accuse each other of being gay and tell arse jokes for 10 hours just to +1 your kill-board so you can say your dad can beat you his dad or whatever isn't the be all and end all of the eve experience.
Maybe you should just learn to smile and be grateful.

His question is quite valid. Nowhere apart from three leaked, and what looks like unfinished, stat screenies has any indication of its role been given. Granted his first line was in jest but his secondary queries are entirely valid. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I wasn't trolling. Historically free ships are generally novelties in the grand scheme of things, it probably was made by the art guys as a side project. Asking about its bonuses so you can run off to EFT and start building "sick fits" is an exercise in futility.
Its more than likely, plain old vanity gear; it does nothing other than look good. subscribe. (disclaimer: and when I say nothing I mean it probably will have some token abilities but anyone with half a brain will be able to fit another ship to do the same job better.)
Hope that cleared up any confusion.

If anything the removal of learning skills and the standardisation of SP/Hour will bring EVERYONES skill gain down to a lower SP/Hour.
I envision the standard rate being something like 1860 or 1980 an hour as opposed to my current 2442 and hour |
