So... we've all seen the new Primae http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=772
A skill-free hauler they're giving away...
Is this a cynical ploy to get people to do PI on their alts? Perhaps it can be seen as acknowledgement that PI isn't producing enough components to keep POSs up?

not cynical, but strategic... there's no surprise, considering the last 'gift ship' was a specialized scanning ship, that didn't get detected by sleeper drones... given out shortly after apocrypha... a 'safe, nothing to lose' method to get everyone to give the new features a shot. Same thing here... remove some of the cost of entry into the new feature.. will people really be using these for their PI hauling for that long? no, probably not, since a tech 1 hauler is probably more efficient, but it will probably entice those who were skeptical to give PI a try, that otherwise wouldn't have.
the same was true for the sail-ship and wormhole exploration... |

The details are sketchy, but the blog suggests specialised bays for products and PI infrastructure. So it won't be a general hauler. Some sort of agile little super-shuttle for picking up and delivering products or placing infrastructure.
If it does prove useful, hopefully BPOs will be released so that it can be utilised beyond the initial release. |

WTB all ships of this kind... 100 isk per unit...
Seriously... Why? This ship has no use. Apart from helping out the nooblets... I pray to GOD it won't have as much capacity as even the smallest industrial...

I believe the hauler will have a specialized cargohold that only holds PI things.
And, yes, it probably won't hold much.

It's a long-term investment for us capsuleers.
Those suggesting it's to encourage PI aren't being cynical but entirely accurate. CCP are generally quite good at managing their releases but I have a feeling PI hasn't been picked up to the degree they may wish - or atleast it won't remain at those levels.

100m3 cargo (no rigging, but a few lows) is not a hauler, it's gank-bait. :)

I've also seen reports of 1600m3 bays for PI CCs and PI products. Which would give it quite decent total capacity. Not as much as a Blockade Runner, but still pretty decent for a no-skills required free ship.

There's no way those are the final stats. An Ibis has a bigger cargohold.

To harvest 6 colonies out of mined tier1s you need cargo hold of 5000m3-10000m3 really.
The huge blockade gate-camp to ORE station is always a permanent feature. Can we have one single ORE station in highsec, even without agents, please CCP, pretty pretty pretty please with huge cherry on top? -- B=g, Honor, Nar=d. Semper Fidelis. Nec Hercules Contra Plures. |
