Edited by: Conrad Lionhart on 28/06/2010 08:49:09 Hey all,
I just came back to this game after being away for 6 months, and after glancing through the first page, I've read that income from missions have been reduced.
So I wish to know, what do the devs want us carebear mission runners to do to earn money? I feel that they are trying to force us into low or null sec to do missions, but the increase in income from low sec missions is probably too little to justify the risk. If they were to significantly boost the income, sure I'd consider entering low sec with a group to share the profit.
So what can I as a mission runner do to earn ISK nowadays? I am just a Dominix fighter, I have little to no skills in mining and R&D. Escort miners from my corporation in low sec, and get a share of the profit? Complexes?
What do the devs want us to do?

If you've actually read my post, you'd realize that that is exactly what I'm asking.
How exactly do I adapt to? What do you want mission runners to do to earn ISK that isn't frowned upon?

Even with the nerfs mission running in highsec is still good and for lowsec to be worthwhile it needs a boost somewhere in the area of 500%

I have read your post and i don't actually understand what do you mean by "making ISK".
Making ISK = 30m/hr,50m/hr,100m/hr or what?
You've chosen no risk sitting in one system or 2 jumps away when your agent doesn't want to see you at station and you complain about making decent ISK/hr?
Loot drops were reduced so if you would analyze it you would come to a conclusion that you have to blitz missions and f*** loot.

Running lv 5 missions is at least 5x more profitable then motsu mission running.
Your point fails. The reason no one except pirates does it, is because you WILL lose your ship to gatecamps and buztards probing you out within a minute for killmails.
There is no point in going to low sec, unless you want to fight. So yeah.

Wormholes. For PvE you'll be in a semi-decently omni tanking ship & with sleepers nearby to make ganking you slightly less predictable, and the reward is high to match the risk. Plus you'll get connections all over New Eden and can play in low/null without having to deal with gates 100% of the time. |

I tried ratting in nullsec, in a BC, while underskilled, it was a pain.
Now I can do L4's comfortably in a BS. I am quite satisfied with the isk I get. I can actually see the PLEX coming togheter ... although I'll probably get bored and get myself killed in lowsec/nullsec, looking for trouble.

Running low sec missions is pretty easy and safe IF you pay attention. Put up your scanner 360 degress and 10,000,000. Keep clicking scan, if you see probes, you've got about 30 seconds to a couple mintues to warp out.
If you have two accounts and it's a gated mission, set your alt about 10k off the first gate cloaked. Keep scanning and watching, if you see probes be ready to warp out. Watch your alt and once you see the ganker warp to the gate, you warp out.
Any other tips people have for running low sec missions?

Level 4 loot was nerfed. If you weren't looting, then you weren't affected.
There's also an issue/bug with missions often being sent into low sec. It's being looked into: dev post (last paragraph.)

Wormholes are fun, although if you don't want to deal with logistical hassles, i'd reccomend against it. Low sec missioning is foolish, imo. If you have the skills and logistics to deal with both watching scan and soloing lvl 5 missions, you're better off running anoms in 0.0. You'll have to find suitable corp space for this, but it's much more reward for half the risk (assuming you have access to reliable intel channels).
High sec misison runing hasn't been hugely nerfed. It's still a suitable income if you can take the boredome and it's essentially no-risk with a half decent ship and skills. I tend to stick with 0.0 anoms and only run highsec missions when I JC back for something else. That being said, if I were not in a large alliance and able to freely move throught a huge NAP'd area of space with little risk, I'd probably missions in high sec more.

Wormholes, exploration, plexing, ratting... there's more to EvE than level 4's, get out there and something different.

I honestly haven't brought any appreciable ISK in since the loot nerf. I'm starting to feel broke again... sigh. I'll probably buckle down and spend a couple days grinding soon... maybe run a few days worth of L4s, run a day or two of wormholes...

True, but now they have the infamous Search Party missions which yield 100M+ per mission, not to mention ive gotten no appreciable difference in the "money-maker" missions such as AE / WC.
I really dont monitor what i make in loot;however, i do monitor the m3 of the loot and that stays about the same.
Ive even seen a few domination mods drop which is amazing as i have never previously had the pleasure, then again, i havent been in highsec for about a year.

Try PI. It can be highly profitable(if somewhat boring) if your in good area. Try null or WH for the best extraction rates. I got 5 planets that knock out goods that are selling for just under 96 mil a day passive income(selling to buy orders at a reasonable rate, not trying to sell at over inflated rates). This may rise or fall depending on the future market conditions but even 10 mil a day passive income pays for a plex a month at current prices.

Part of a the whole sandbox game idea is that you choose what YOU want to do. You provide your own motivation and you measure your own success.

There are a few lowsec mission hubs that are pretty much owned by carebears and anti-pirates. Go find one and see if the locals will set you blue.

The loot and salvage nerf hasn't really affected me much.
I was walking through Jita 4-4 caldari navy assembly plant. The floor was wet and there were no warning signs. I fell, Badly injuring my knee and was unable to mission for weeks. At first I was frightened it would be expensive to claim but the national accident helpline took my case on a no win/no fee basis. I became so rich that I didn't need to loot and salvage my missions. But then some guy in Jita promised to triple any money I sent him and I lost it all.
Luckily however, my agent has just given me the wrong type of ladder..........

Move to 0.0 where you can make ~100m an hour doing sanctum anomalies in a Thanatos. Join up with carebear alliance like TNT, Galatic Syndicate etc if you don't want to have to do pvp beyond jump in a rifter when a roaming gang turns up.
