So I have came to the decision of flying an active tanked ship for 0.0, is this most likely the best option?
With active tank, I have the issue of cap booster consumption. With buffer, its slow, cluggy and cant pick up after a fight.
Only other option would be shield tank but in most situations an active tanked ship is more beneficial than a buffer since you can rep up the damage and try to sink something before you die.
The main ships this is flying around is.
Duel rep brutix, buffer brute or shield gank and spank setup. Duel rep hyperion or mega with buffer.
Out of those choices for both ships, are any better than active tank? Would test them if I had pointless isk to throw away but I dont :p
Reason I ask, I caught a drake in a belt other day and he took a while to chew through but I DIDNT use any cap boosters but the fact I was seconds away from injecting a cap booster to tank a damn ratting drake I felt as if in a fight where I am getting leathered to **** i will be eating boosters faster than an ethiopian.

Wait... Solo? in 0.0? With a BS?

Provi, venal, tenal, geminate......you seem suprised that people fly battleships in 0.0
People fly solo BC and BS in 0.0, just harder to catch **** and when you come accross a camp only option is to fight and you will most likely kill something before dieing unless there is an absurd about off ECM or logistics.

You want to use an active-tanked BS solo in the north of 0.0 but you "don't have pointless ISK to throw away"? ____________
HYDRA Reloaded - 2nd place at Alliance Tournament 8 EVE-Arena is awesome!

I can certainly see the advantage in it... Most will see a free kill seeing a lone BS in 0.0, myself included. So Carrot and Stick all in one!
I like your style, lol.
Solo BC is more than doable in 0.0 but I personally feel a solo B.S would be tricky to pull off, chiefly because the GTFO option is significantly harder in such a lump.
Frankly, given the choice I'm rather stumped. Dual rep setups "can" be surprisingly effective tho, and a dual rep brute could be a fun toy indeed.
Or you could go mental and try a shield buffer nano-mega or something. :p

Best option is probably a dual rep domi. Besides that the only BSs that offer the tank that would be needed for a 1 vs gang fight are the hype and the abaddon. Niether of which are particularly wonderful once you get two cap boosters and two LARs on there.
A dual rep brutix does not sound like a good idea here. If you want a BC, I would take a HML drake.

For starters, good for you for taking the plunge. Most people sit in large gangs and get content and lazy, never honing their skill.
My suggestion for you in a Battleship solo, you will need a scout. Don't worry it's still solo, but you need a fighting chance to evade and gather intel without simply running in blind.
You can create a trial account very quickly and it will help you immensely.
As for your ship choice, there are many ships that can adeptly handle 0.0 solo. Geddon's, Dominix, Hyperion's, Typhoons and possibly Abaddon's in the right circumstances.
If you decide to active tank, you will be a one shot wonder, unless you find 800's in the wrecks after a fight. Best off with a plate + single LAR varient on ships such as the Geddon or Typhoon. This will allow you to continue fighting for longer. If your around stations however such as in Curse, Stain etc you will be able to make active tanking alot more bearable.
Here are afew setups for you to get you started feel free to amend them at your will.
If you are strictly a Gallente player and arent confident with extreme active tanking (the ship being designed around its armour reps and cap), then you may want to try a Megathron buffer with a single LAR setup variant.
Finally good luck, you'll have alot more fun!
