Myrm over Brutix any day of the week. Myrm not only by far out tanks the Brutix but when you T2 fit them both, the Brutix will run you 100m while the Myrm is 60m.
There is simply no reason at all to fly the Brutix when the Myrm exist.

With comparable gunnery and drone skills, the myrmidon will both out-tank and out-dps the brutix in many cases. Also the myrmidon is way more new player friendly when trying to squeeze a half decent fitting on it.
oh and it looks nicer too :P

You have to put them in their different roles. Myrmidon has a far better tank than the brutix and is much more suited for pve yes. But what some of you miss is that brutix is the ideal gank boat. It can dish out a ton of dps with it's good amount of high and low slots aswell fit a small shield buffer in the mids.
Furthermore, the myrmidon is more defensively put, putting it's tank when active tanked almost on par with the drake. It can also do good dps with projectiles due to it not having any weapon bonuses, also it has the drones damage and hp bonus. However, while it is more defensively put the brutix goes towards the other extreme, it's a glasscannon, fragile but can dish out alot of dps. It's not uncommon to get 700-800dps out from a properly skilled brutix pilot.
So the choice ends up in, do you want a defensive ship with high defence and good dps, or a offencive ship with fairly low survivability but the capacity to put out extreme dps.

1000dps output when OL is not a good reason it seams...
Like everything in eve the respond is : it depends... Whit pve and pvp... what kind of pve? what kind of pvp?
just an overall... the myrm is perfect when shield tanked and doing plex/farm/WH. It's a good ship to pvp too. Very good tank (same as drake). The brutix is the blasterboat you dream of. At gate camping in 0.0 or lowsec it is perfect. If you fit it in a good way you can have 1000 dps OL and 16k shield buffer with 800m/s. And it doesn't cost 100M, a full T2 fit is about 50M (ship, fit and insurance included)
enjoy both

For PvP, the choice is yours to make... personally I normally go with the Myrm but the Brutix I have listed is lolwtfpwnage. For PvE the Myrm is the clear choice because you can active tank it cap stable easily.
MYRMIDON
Tank: 631dps (807dps with heat, 998dps with Standard Exile Booster and ZET400) - plus 40k ehp DPS: 485 (515 with heat)
Use in roaming gangs where staying alive longer is important. Note EC-600s are useful.

tl;dr: "Because you would be a fool to use an active tanked Brutix over a Myrmidon".
I think you should do some research before you reach for the faceplam. However, I will humour your question...
If you were to follow the ship bonus and create a repper-brutix you would end up with something like the below, which has only marginally better dps (10%) than the Myrm I posted but a significant 33% less tank. So, to answer your question: "Because you would be a fool to use an active tanked Brutix over a Myrmidon".
The Myrmidon also has the benefit of better range (from the Auto's) and can field 3 large, 5 med and 5 light drones - giving a massive range of combat choices. It also has an extra low and mid and a much bigger cap (hello active tank). The Brutix is marginally cheaper but I would not use that as a reason to use it.
So, this difference kind of leaves the Brutix a bit useless compared to the Myrm. You could try fitting a 1600mm buffer fit on it but would end up with the same PG issues to fit decent guns - if the ship had resist bonuses instead this may be worth it but otherwise it's not.
The only real reason to use the Brutix is to take advantage of it's ability to fit a rack of the best guns in class and a load of damage mods - giving you a silly amount of dps. In order to do this you need to sacrifice your armor tank for damage mods and throw on a shield tank.
DPS: 530 (only 10% better than the Myrm's 485) Tank: 538 with heat (33% less than the Myrm's 807 with heat)

I discovered a setup a couple years ago with the Myrmidon that made it quite an effective active tank.
3 Armour reps and double med injectors. Here's the setup here

Yeah it's a solid fit and probably the ship I fly the most. In fact I shamefully posted it above ;)

The Myrm is the Teir 2 BC. its a bit unfair to compare it with the Brutix.
The Brutix should be compared to the Ferox Cyclone and Prophacy and in this context its not a bad ship.
Myrm should be compared to the Hurricain Drake and Harby.

I know this - the reason for the comparison was to illustrate my point that it is inadvisable to active tank the Brutix when the price of the Myrmidon is so similar and it is a better ship (Tier 2).

I disagree, there is almost no difference in skill time from bc1 to bc2, there is also less than a 10m difference between the cost of the ship hulls. Do to how similar they are in both training time and fitted cost I can't see any good reason to not compare all BCs to each other.
This has been an issue since tier 2 bcs were introduced. Tier 1s are missing slots and fitting with little to no advantage over their significantly more potent big brothers. We do no need more bad ships in eve based on the fundamentaly flawed tier system. Brutix is worse than myrm, brutix is FAR worse than harbie or cane. All Tier 1s need to have their stats and slots re-evaluated, +1 high or +1 low and +25m3 drone bay(not bandwidth) would go a long way in making the Brutix comparable to the other turret based bcs.

Here is the Brutix I fly, with my skills and implants it overheats to around 1000 DPS and costs around 45m. By far the cheapest and most deployable 1000 dps ship you could field. Beyond Tech 1 Cruisers (and possibly some Tech 2 ones which are woefully unprepared) your target range is limited if you are solo but the amount of punch you can put out for such little cost is fantastic when you need something expendable to beat down targets before they can chug back to the gate or de-aggress. If backed up with a scimitar, multiple Brutix fit like this can really cause headaches.

Edited by: Annie Anomie on 01/07/2010 16:59:58 Given the Brutix does only one thing and the Myrm can do several things overall I'd have to say the Myrm.
The Myrm can be fairly ganky (not quite the same levels as the Brutix but pretty close) if fit that way or can be tanky or somewhere in between.
Also the ridiculous DPS output the Brutix can manage is under fairly specific circumstances and it doesn't take much to reduce that.
The myrm OTOH can do DPS through a much wider range envelope.
Oh and for PVE the Brutix is pooh.

Unfortunately, the Gallente lineup blurs that distinction. The Myrm is, at this point, the worst of the tier 2 BCs, while the Brutix is the best of the tier 1 BCs. And both have their uses.
For the Myrm, Kessah got beaten to her own setup earlier in the thread. That's where it shines. For PvE, though, just get a Dominix. The Myrm has nothing to offer in that context.
For the Brutix, a full gank shield tank is the way to go. You don't want to encumber it with armor mods and you don't want to lose the lows for anything but damage (which, yes, includes effective DPS, so TEs count). But it's also a sub-par mission boat. And it can be brutally hard to fit well. Again, get a Domi for PvE.
For PvP, pick your poison based on context. A Brutix is a glass cannon, but it can melt faces if it gets into position. A Myrm, properly fit, can tank a small gang and still manage to gank the whole thing. Anything more substantial and it melts quite quickly. Though not quite as quickly as a Brutix. Maybe.

I would drop a Mag Stab for a Tracking Enhancer - the extra dps of a 4th stacking-penalised module is low and the extra tracking and range will give you more effective dps in game.
