Hello All,
I have tried nearly every wine + evemon idea I can find, and I am not having any luck, I have gotten evemon installed, added my accounts, made plans but inevitably it crashes, and then just crashes pseudo-randomly, normally when I click what does this skill enable, although it crashes when swapping skill plans as well.
I am on snow leopard, and I am not asking for "fix my ****" but I am wondering if anyone is running evemon through wine and if so, could you post how you set it up?
Thanks AG

I think EVEMon is a .net application? If it's the one I'm thinking of then its a swine to get going reliably in Wine.
However I remember gtkevemon compiled and ran ok on an old hackintosh I've got. It might have the functionality you want I dunno.

Hi there,
I gave up on Evemon via Wine and stuff.
I got me VirtualBox, installed WinXP in a virtual box and run the EveMon and ETF there. The only problem is, that I cant run Eve and VirtualBox concurrently. There isnt just enough memory and cpu power. I think I have to train Mac to V. ;)
Cheers,

EVE Mac Tools is good, but if you want to run EVEMon with Wine, you can get it to be stable. The problem is currently with the updater.
Start by downloading the latest snapshot from Battleclinic and unzip them.
Open Finder, and press Shift + Command + G and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Wine/prefixes
Open the folder for whatever you named your EVEMon prefix and go to /drive_c/Program Files/EVEMon
Drag the contents from the latest EVEMon snapshot folder into the /drive_c/Program Files/EVEMon folder and restart EVEMon.
You should be good to go. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

sadly I have now gotten the latest snapshot and it still crashes when I load it up and play with skill plans...
Out of ideas.

so I reinstalled evemon after wiping it out, and did as you said with the lattest stable build, and it works much better, but still crashes a lot.

i am guessing your crashes are all on the Skill Plan screen, yes?
I wiped it out completely, reinstalled using the following winetricks: dotnet30, corefonts, fontfix, and tahoma.
Still got crashes on the Skill Plan screen, but I noticed that when it crashed, there was a red box with an "X" in it on the right side of the window, right around where that popup tip shows the first time you launch the window. I unchecked the box that says "Don't Show This Tip Again" and all is right with the world.
Ok, maybe not the world, but at least with EVEMon and Wine. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

Found more Draw errors, this time in the Skill Plan Ship Browser.
I get the feeling that EVEMon might finally be dead in Wine on the Mac. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

Edited by: Apollo Gabriel on 11/07/2010 22:21:58 The errors you describe are nearly exactly what I face, I have tried the darwine setup from battle clinic, I have tried multiple wine trick ideas, and nothing works, it fails in the planner and ALWAYS when I click show me what this skill enables, sadly it was stable for 3 hours one day, I was very happy.
Mac Eve Tools has been great actually, the thing I miss most is "Show what this skill enables" as I have been away 14 months and was only here 5 months before that.

It appears they are going to be releasing Wine version 1.2 very soon. Maybe this will help with some of the bugs.
I do like Mac EVE Tools (although the name is a little weak), but have found that it works best for me to just create a small Parallels VM with 512MB of RAM and and a very minimal XP install and run all my Windows EVE tools from it. I can run it with EVE clients open and still have access to the IGB stuff as well. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |

Edited by: forgeBot on 13/07/2010 02:23:33 Edited by: forgeBot on 13/07/2010 02:23:00 Here is how I run evemon on my MBP. Application is 100% working!
1. download winebottler http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ 2. make a custom bottle and make sure to select dotnet11, dotnet20, allfonts, gdiplus 3. click through the installation, make sure to select evemon.exe when prompted 4. start up evemon once then quit out. 5. then go into the pseude-C-drive that wine made and open up the xml settings file (~/Library/Application Support/wine/prefixes/<name of your wine app>/drive_c/users/<your user name>/Application Data/EVEMon/settings.xml) 6. search for "ignoreNetworkStatus" and change false to true, save and close
Enjoy
EFT works similarly, but you need to manually copy the support files to the application package since wine bottler only moves the EXE file. copy them to the winebottler folder in the pseudo-C-drive in the application package (Not your Library folder!) *MAKE SURE YOU COPY THE SUPPORT FILES BEFORE YOU RUN EFT FOR THE FIRST TIME*

forgeBot, I could kiss you, but I suspect you may be a G.I.R.L.
No offense if you aren't, I just know my demographics.
gdiplus fixes it completely!

glad I could help. gdiplus is the latest secret trick, I'm sure in a few versions we'll have to find another
and I'm a guy, all of my shopping alts are female though
does g.i.r.l. stand for anything?

i found that trying to install allfonts was buggy with the Droid fonts portion.
just install corefonts and tahoma instead of the all in one package. _____________________________ http://twitter.com/krispy_dingo http://krispydingo.com |
