Edited by: Daisuke Aoki on 03/07/2010 22:09:09 So, I've seen a lot of PvP videos that have been released, and I've enjoyed alot of them. I always thought something that made some of the good ones really great was the soundtrack though. The way the music complements whatever action was going on in the video really just made it enjoyable to watch.
So, I'm asking the community, and especially people who produce videos, what kind of music do you prefer to use/see in PvP vids? How do you pick and choose what kind of music goes with a particular scene?
Also, what kind of music does everyone feel would me least appropriate in a PvP vid? (Country music? Progressive metal? Polka? J-pop? )
Most videos I've seen use either some sort of electronica (techno, dance, trance - I think trance works really well sometimes) or less often some kind of rock or metal. I remember one video (I think -A- did it) where they used Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in one of the scenes and it went surprisingly well.
What does everyone think?

So long as the editing matches the music, then it doesn't matter

As long as it is edited well it doesn't matter alot. However my personal taste usually doesn't change. If the music is poorly synced or just plainly suck I usually just press mute though and put on whatever I was listening to before.

But good editing to whatever the music is can lift a video just that last bit to make it just a tad more awesome

I like to discover new music in eve vids. So I'd say put stuff in that's got plenty of energy and isn't particularly mainstream.

I agree with this, and I too like to discover new music in Eve vids sometimes.
Music obviously isn't the most important part of an Eve video, and I didn't mean to imply that it was - but to me, maybe it's just because I love music, it can make a good video great.

As long as it isn't Drowning Pool I don't care what the music is. Bodies is so overused I'll close the video after the first note hits my eardrum. Here's a few songs I used before in some videos I did:
Iron Maiden - Aces High (Air combat video in Planetside)
Disturbed - Indestructible (FPS video)
Full version of Ezekiel Jackson's Domination theme (Some console racing game. Blur I think.)

This is probably the best effect you can get. I have sometimes played one of prom's vids just for the music and just had it running in the background.
I lieu of that, just don't use the same tracks as everyone else. Like Pendulum or Prodigy. I swear there was a time when every second video had "Invaders must die" in it.
