Heya peeps,
I noticed an increase in performance since 1.0.3 so I started out being happy. Then I left the station and noticed the jagged edges and shimmering are back. I force AA and AF with nHancer but this no longer works as it did before.
I'm not sure what happened, but Eve just got uglier. I can increase nHancer's settings, the performance drops suggesting it is working, but it never looks like the way it did before.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I noticed nHancer making my client crash when I undock. I stopped using it since there was no real noticable graphic improvement anyways for me.
Also since I stopped using it, no more crash on undock.

You were using the wrong settings. Most likely anti-aliasing compatibility.
With the correct settings it worked like a charm and I had zero jagged edges or shimmering on lit edges. Image was as smooth as a babies butt.
But mine is not an issue with nHancer, I'm pretty sure something changed in the game.

Edited by: Fergus Runkle on 04/07/2010 14:32:23 I'm getting a terrible drop in frame rate whenever there is a planet on screen. Dropping from 60fps to 10 or 11. Move the view so the planet is no longer visible and the frames shoot back up.
I've bug reported this but the report just seems to be sitting there.

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 04/07/2010 15:53:52 nHancer just ceased working for me someday, over a year ago. No combinations of settings would provide antialiasing anymore, and yes I tried them all. I didn't update my graphics driver or anything, and EVE wasn't patched either; it just stopped working out of the blue.
I'm not having graphics issues with the patch, but yes, the aliasing makes EVE look pretty terrible in places.
Sometimes when I warp in at a specific angle and distance, I only know that I'm looking at one of these filigrane Amarr stargates because I just ordered my ship to warp there. The flickering mass of pixels however is hardly discernible as an actual object.
And that's at 1680x1050 so the resolution certainly isn't at fault

If you are using 'edge detect' on an ATI card you will indeed get a very serious drop in performance since the patch. Activate adaptive AA(supersampling) and box 8x or 4x to get AA without the serious performance hit.
@Rawnie: How did you make the white lines on distant roids and moons dissappear? I tried every AA setting from supersampling to the ugly blurring effect and I still get white lines. It's barely noticeable on moons but very noticeable on distant roids. Forces me to turn off AA from time to time.

EDIT: Even when I turn HDR off I get white lines with AA, very faintly tough. Damn those brownish textures.
White lines? I don't see no white lines unless there are supposed to be white lines.
But we are straying from the issue I originally posted, which is not about nHancer, its about the game. Something's changed to improve framerate but it also makes things uglier and no setting of AA or AF can fix it, while before the patch I had a smooth and shimmer-free image.

Example: AA Filter box 4x, Supersampling and HDR enabled. Mind that in movement it's alot worse. With HDR disabled it reduces alot, but remains.
I only find threads with the white circles appearing when AA, HDR and bloom is enabled. Nothing like my problem, so I'm interested to see how astroids look for you with AA enabled.

My graphics seemed okay up until the patches, now they are horrible, jagged lines and abnormality's make the the game look cheap. What is the good of having nice expensive equipment if you see no benefit from it?

I only see one very small white line in your example, I see plenty of white pixels though. I asume thats what you mean.
Looks like a hardware issue to me, maybe too hot I don't know. I don't have that.

I'm glad someone can confirm my experience. I turned nHancer off and its just so much worse than ever before.
I think something is really messed up in the latest patch.
I've completely reset all my settings, reinstalled the game, removed nHancer. It just looks aweful.

Update:
I've completely reset all my gamesettings, ran the repairtool (don't think it did anything though) and reset all nHancer profiles to default.
I then reconfigured Eve and nHancer profile with the correct settings for Eve.
Everything seems back to normal now.
I would suggest if you have graphics issues after the patch that you try the same.
