Edited by: Torquil Noble on 06/07/2010 12:04:53 I'm confused with two types of module
Shield Resistance Amplifiers Magnetic Scattering Amplifier.....EM resistance Explosion Dampening Amplifier.....Explosive resistance Kinetic Deflection Amplifier......Kinetic resistance Heat Dissipation Amplifier........Thermal resistance
Shield Hardeners Invulnerability Field.............Boosts shield resistance against ALL damage Photon Scattering Field...........Boosts shield resistance against EM damage Explosion Dampening Field.........Boosts shield resistance against explosive damage Ballistic Deflection Field........Boosts shield resistance against kinetic damage Heat Dissipation Field............Boosts shield resistance against thermal damage
Shield Resistance Amplifiers & Shield Hardeners!
Shield Resistance Amplifiers boost the 'specific' [four different types] resistance of the shield
Shield Hardeners boost the shield resistance against the 'specific' [four different types] damage
What is the difference, apart from the language?

Shield resistance amps are passive modules (do not require capacitor for their bonuses), they also gain greatest benefits from the shield compensation skills. Gives less resistance bonus than the hardeners. Also they have lower CPU costs.
Shield hardeners on the other hand are active (require capacitor to run), give higher resists, gain nothing from the shield compensation skills (except when they're turned off at which stage it's only a minimal bonus when compared to the amps benefit). As you've also noted you've got the invuln field too which is best way to cover all spectrum's of resists (ideal for pvp/omnitanking), which comes at cost of lower individual resists and higher capacitor use.

Shield Hardeners are active, meaning they require capacitor to run. Resistance Amplifiers are passive, you just fit them and they apply their resistance bonus
Active tank gets you more bang for your buck but you're susceptible to cap warfare, thus they are more commonly found in PVE.

Edited by: Torquil Noble on 06/07/2010 12:17:18 both excellent descriptions, thank you
I have decided on amplifiers...
