what would cause me to quit eve?
oh that's easy, i'd say a couple more months of CCPs current attitude towards maintaining a working game outta do it.

If any expansions like this came out...
EoW (EvE of Warcraft)
WoE (World of EvE)
Ever-EvE
PoTBE (Pirates of the Burning EvE)
EoC (EvE of the Caribbean)
AoE (Age of EvE)
EoC (EvE of Conan)
HE (Hello-EvE)
EK (EvE-Kitty)
Oh...and CCP pulls the plug.

RealID
A new Shard or Server.
Any sort of restrictions on pvp.
Any sort of implementation of pvp queue for fights system (ala "Battlegrounds")
Paid name changes.
Pay for skill points or skill point training speed increases.
Pretty much any sort of micro transaction. (not to be confused with GTC -> Plex conversion, I think this system is brilliant).
Real life in game advertising (I want to see Quafe on in game billboards, not CocaCola).
Any sort of major publisher merger from CCP (for example CCP merging with EA or some other major publisher on a permanent basis. Contract based publications like with Atari for a limited release boxed game are fine).
Opt in PVP anywhere in Eve (aka "flagging")
Any sanctions against in game scamming, spying, backstabbing or stealing.
Excessive protection for players from scamming, spying, backstabbing or stealing (for the record, a director vote for disbanding a corp/alliance is not something I see as 'excessive')
And last but not least, if CCP ever changes their concept of Eve being a "cold, dark, harsh" game-world, I will be gone in a heartbeat.

Micro transactions would certainly cause me to quit. I just hate that business model. I'll gladly pay a monthly subscription.
Heck they could charge for expansions and I wouldn't mind one bit (frankly I think it's silly not to). I also don't understand why you would create any kind of avenue that allowed players to play for free (PLEX's). That's just bad business imo, but what do I know?
I'm getting off topic!

I've been apart of EVE since 07 of 07, but I don't recall ever playing the game really.
For 3 years, I have been waiting to get to the point where I'll finally be able to play the game. To actually play for fun.

You're doing it wrong.

You play for free but some one else has to by the plex to sell you so CCP still get the money in the end.
As for me Crimson Dahlia pretty much summed it up for me that would make be consider quiting. I think the only I would think of quiting is I need my MMPOG Spaceship fix and there is not another decent one out there.
Currently RealID would make me a watcher of the forum at best instead of a poster. I suspect a lot of the more helpful older players would stop posting leaving the forums to the idiots who don't care about securing their personal details. The following would probably make me quit but a fair amount of time will be given to them, while this may not be what CCP may want to hear I can assure them I am still a fanboi though certain things seriously are comical to the point where it makes me facepalm at the companyÆs management skills sometimes.
1. Inconsistencies from petitions / GM intervention, GMs saying they will do something followed by a 'oh wait we cant' followed by 'its done', I am not sure why this keeps happening but it is pretty pathetic and has been a problem since I started (petition needed within 2 days of playing).
2. Bug reporting, its nice that the bug reports get organised fast and filtered in the right section but stuff reported months ago still in the game doesnt really look good especially after a bug report response comes back 'this has already been reported'.
3. Though I mock NAPs and blobs, lagg is getting worse with 40 man fleets crashing, I cant really say why this is or how it can be fixed but I dont like the idea of devs giving vague information to how mass testing is helping. In most threads GMs tend to respond with reasons why more information cant be provided (as it may be a branch of the problem or may be temp only). I can understand this but I feel it would be nice to know information even if it hasnt helped the lagg situation, reassurance I guess that CCP are doing something about the lagg.
4. Macros, while these wont make me quit they are the cancer of eve, I would like to see more stats and graphs (much like unholy rage) showing effort by CCP on getting rid of macros. Also harsher punishments to macro users, most people have several accounts so having one temp banned wont really affect them.
5. Changes to the game, PI while nice should have been delayed, theres alot of broken stuff / bugs which need focus, stuff that has been mentioned repeatedly over and over.
Ironically I would suggest CCP to recruit more people to handle the above issues since alot of the stuff should have been fixed by now or simply change the current policies or way things are happening.
Saying that I still like the game alot but dominion onwards has been somewhat a disappointment --

That's about all I can think of offhand that would instantly make me quit, little things can add up over time obviously.

If we couldn't have a fight more than 150 in local, if we dc'd w/ blackscreen login or the node crashed with only 350 in local, if the SOV warfare went to poop and became stagnate or boring, if oh wait.....
