Cool, I do the same thing. I have about 25 Billion in assets including over 100 Fitted and Rigged ships. Many of them are worth a lot such as my faction and Navy BS's. (Vindicators, Navy Geddons, Navy Ravens, Golems, etc). Some are real beauties I will never take out of empire cause they all just end up primaried in a battle anyway. But occasionaly I take out a Geddon for ****s and giggles, but lately I have been flying Manticore mostly. Love those Bombs...

I played WoW for 5 years and enjoyed it but I've just asked them today to remove all personal details about me from their records. I had intended to try Cataclysm and Diablo 3 but oh well, no shortage of decent games on the horizon.

Originally by: Ishina Fel I have quit and returned a few times... Generally it's the community that drives me off.
You really really need the community to play EVE. Most of the things you do ingame take a lot more time than they do in other games; WoW rewards you for 10 minutes of effort, whereas in EVE you better be prepared to invest at least an hour to do something right (although admittedly, the reward is greater as well). The thing that makes investing so much time into EVE worthwhile is the fact that your actions can have a real meaning. That you are doing this to further the goals of your corporation, to win a war, and so on.
However, if I do not feel like helping my fellow players? Because of all the name-calling, the metagaming, the crudest of crude humor, the self-styled elitism, the ceaseless trolling for no other reason than because you can, the craptalking about your own alliance mates behind their backs, and the general lack of helpfulness to anyone who you haven't known for years already?
That really kills it all for me, and has repeatedly. Because honestly, there is no group in EVE that does not do this. None. I have seen more than enough after all these years. The words "we only recruit mature people" really only stands for "we want corpmates who can laugh about racist jokes without their parents coming to complain". EVE by its very design as an anonymous sandbox brings out the absolute worst in people, and I have little desire of lowering myself to that level.
Usually I quit for around half a year and then come back when enough new features have piled up to make the game worth discovering again.

2.Firstly, this isn't wow. Secondly, the guy that's been playing for 2 hours a day while his skills tick up will be more skilled than the newbie that afked the skills. There's a difference between sp and player skill.
3. I can't even be arsed with this any more.
4.A T3 mining ship or buff to the speed you can get into a T2 mining barge will just lower the price of ore further. What you need is an approach that reduces material aquisition from non mining sources.
5.What? Capitals have jump drives and some special T2's that's the way it is and should be, support ships should get to randomly jump.
6.walking in stations is hoakum, it's a gimicky addon that they need to write for another game and we're their testbed. This isn't "the simms"
7.Dynamic security status is a double edged sword. Firstly it'd need a total rewright of some core code and given how they couldn't make sov upgrades effect asteroid belts I doubt they could impliment it. Secondly, I like the idea that empire pulsates and changes with rat\mission activity but then mission runners would scream if their lvl 4 agent up sticks and moved to a 0.4 because everyone had managed to raise his 0.6 to a 1.0.
Ultimatly though, read more, talk less
I don't normally waste time replying to these hubris ridden half arsed snipes. Oddly though I have a few mins to spare today.
1. The level of moron involved in justifying a status quo based on 'other' completely unrelated circumstances in 'other' games is just mind blowingly dense. Congratulations.
2. Firstly, I've never played WOW and never will. Secondly, the vast majority of this elusive and entirely immaterial 'in game expertise' you reference is garnered from out of game resources and third parties. So that doesnt hold up.
3. You're posting to tell me you can't be arsed to post? Congratulations on that.
4. I actually do agree with that, it is indeed a valid argument. However the game has also to be considered in terms of what draws people in to careers (or diversification even) and keeps them there? Mining is incredibly boring, superficial, shallow, simplistic and ultimately a huge skill and time sink for comparatively little reward; either in gameplay terms or in isk. Mining is long, long overdue a revamp/overhaul/expansion. If that complicates the macro economic situation in the game - thats what CCP employ game designers and economists for presumably.
5. You don't understand the statement, but you're going to comment on it anyway? If you don't get it, I can't make it any clearer. But feel free to sneer at what you think I meant.
6. You have absolutely no qualifying insider knowledge to justify that statement. You also apparently seem to lack a lot of imagination.
7. Its a great idea imho. In yours its a so-so idea. Glad we established that. Although how you know the state of the Eve codebase and what CCP can and can't do with their own product mystifies me? Are you a CCP employee? Didn't think so.
As for your parting shot allow me to counter: Communicate more, sneer less. It just might make you happier.

Some player, sees that CCP has released some colorful new ship that you can buy for 25 dollars. Ship looks different from most designs and like most people player wants stand out from the crowed. (not really a good idea in EvE by the way). Said player has a little money to spare buys ship, buys ship yells in local... and is basically a big juicy target.
At the same time all the PvPers and Gankers, all the tear collectors see the same ship was released by CCP. And see all the possibilities for amusement. Of course they like the ship too, mostly because it will look nice on their kill board.
Said player who bought the ships starts to fly it around high sec. Doing his thing, suddenly a gang of gankers sees player... and I am sure you can imagine the rest.
You do realize this happens every time CCP gives out free, one-off ships.

1. ok, excluding other mmos, training multiple accounts at the same time in eve will make character farming possible which is has never meant to be.
example, A player has multiple accounts and conducts a lot of trading to fun these accounts, on each accout the player has a main who he uses for trading\production\whatever. Every other slot is used for creating mission running alts to sell on the forum. That, in my mind, is bad and has been discussed before on the forums. Hence, read more.
2. You can read as much out of game stuff as you like but actually playing the game will give you more experience than reading alone. Same in real life, personally I'd rather hire someone with years of experience than years of book learning and no experiance.
3. The debate goes round and round, ccp say things that either side take as they want to take them, minor changes are made to the system and people read them as the aproaching apocalypse, there's no reason to give everyone +10 attributes if they remove learning skills, you don't NEED to learn them to 5/5 as a new player but that's where the argument begins and I can't be arsed to have it again. There are numerous other threads about this, so go read them and chip in, I think there's even a motion for it in the assembly hall.
4.You're seeing a wet floor and saying that "bucket and mop" need a revamp\buff\etc rather than fixing the broken pipe that's leaking water. What I mean is, you can buff mining as much as you like, it won't make it more profitable because it'll make it easier to mine for EVERYONE which will put more minerals on the market and lower prices. What you need to do is either raise demand or lower supply. It's not CCP's job to moderate the economy which is what you seem to be proposing. This has been discussed multiple times on the forum.
5. Care to explain why sub capital ships should be able to jump? Gate camps aren't hard to spot\avoid\get through. If you're having trouble you need to read more
6. Vampire MMO that CCP are working that has been stated will use the same engine as the "wis" content in eve Read more
7. On the lead up to the new sov system with upgradeable systems it was stated by a dev that this will not effect true sec as that part of the code is some what mystical and untouchable. I'm not digging for the link but it's out there, so, read more.
Ultimatley though, the op was asking "what would make you quit" not "what do you hope might happen some day" so you're post is little more than a mild derailment.
You don't need a crystal ball or insider knowledge to see what CCP are upto\what might happen, just read interviews with the devs, play on the test server and ignore the band waggons\roumor mills
That and I'm in a cranky mood.
