Other than making us feel like we have a bad case of E.D. whenever we undock, what is the real reason behind the abnormally small gun model? Being that ccp has the ability to make total graphical overhauls like Trinity it would make sense that something like this could be addressed. I hope they come to their senses and fix such a terrible eyesore for all ships...frigates included.

Guns look fine. You're overcompensating for something
If anything, CCP has a long way to go to get the size of objects down to proper proportions. Take for example communications dish objects in missions, as big as battleships and rotates speedily. Problem is battleships are kilometre sized objects.
Plenty of other examples that made the space immersion somewhat symbolic/cartoonish rather than semi-plausible. |

In space there is no limit in regards to how fast something can spin or move, beside the speed of light, the biggest factor is the ratio of acceleration to mass.

Lots of stuff in EVE is oddly scaled, like the 3,000 m3 GSC that's bigger than the cormorant.

The 27.5k m3 jetcan is smaller than a Retriever :)

jetcan, as I've figured, is not to be taken as a can at all. In itself, it does not manifest itself in space as a can, but jettisoned pile of whatever, floating aimlessly beside the ship. The can that we see, is only a symbolic element to represent something that would be virtually impossible to code and represent with the current game engine.

I like to imagine that jetcans are more like an anchor point rather than an actual container. Just imagine that they're surrounded by a massive industrial-strength sack. _
