I have Windows 2003 server clusters doing that all fine...

Yes you would need clusters to do all of that on Windows ;)

maybe finally uninstall that not so legal copy of windows :P
Hey, an intelligent reply on the forums. Careful, I hear you can get banned for that.
This is a good topic, along with that other one (or three) threads like 'Eve on Linux', but as Arthur G. said, there's not any reason for non-linux users to waste their time and ours only to 'dis an OS they're not using or failed to figure out or some such thing. There's uses for many OS's. I work with one that would make linux seem like a popularity contest winner.
The other thing of note that I think has been mentioned is that this is not a linux port. This is the exact version running on Windows. Developers (CCP) don't have to waste any time doing this if that happens to be the reason that drags the malcontents over here to whine.

I find it amusing how the guy that made the picture erased the system name but has a station selected that gives his location away...

It looks cool but is the performance acceptable when using Cedega to play EVE ?
And I'm going to skip the pro Linux/pro Windows stuff, there are entire forums dedicated to that discussion. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Last time I tried it (Cedega 4.1.1 & Fedora Core 2), it was still prone to crashing a lot. Not tried it under Cedega 4.2 though...just don't have the time at the moment.
www.transgaming.org/forum has a good thread on this.

the main problem with windows virus issues are USERS. any linux user here who uses root as his default user?
and since all the mail servers in the world are linux....why the hell do most of the viruses travel through them?...and you blame MS for it...LOL

Umm.. aren't you forgetting that those mail servers themselves are like totally safe from the virus but it is the Windows systems that connect to it that get nailed? To Linux, that virus is just another file and one which can't hurt it anyway. You can't really play the OS for that, you have to blame the AV companies that suck up to Microsoft.
To me, Windows spoils people by making things too easy to use. And lately it seems to make things harder to fix while making it easier to use. And when I tell a non-windows box to do something, it does what I tell it to do. It doesn't ask me if I am sure I want to do this like 50 damn times because if I didn't want to do it, I wouldn't have done it in the first place! Stupid bloody hardware wizard, go away!

People who think that others use Linux to be "cool" should forcefully be removed from the internet.
For those fortunate enough to have multiple machines at their disposal, Linux usually comes in as a server, and most of those people I know are running Windows on their desktops - simply because they're used to Windows and using Linux as a desktop operating system is quite a turnaround if you're used to Windows.
Furthermore, Linux isn't necessarily more secure than Windows, it's the user that makes it secure - or insecure.
As a desktop I would prefer Windows over Linux at any given time, for the simple fact that I like it better and that a lot of the software I'm used to/using hasn't been ported to Linux.
As a server, I would go for Linux any time, for the simple fact that I like it better in configuring and setting up things (i.e. daemons) the way I want it, I can tweak/tinker around with it as much as I want.

Amos, Good to hear, but was your cursor working too(was having problem with it long ago, but havent tried again in awhile)? I didn't spot it from pic, but then again I am bit tired right now.
Last for all these anti-linux posters, Linux not userfriendly? There is some distros that try that and quite frankly these suck. User is supposed to have lot control over hes OS when using linux and by limiting users choices some distros make rather ugly solutions.
Poor performance? On what area? Using wine/cedega to run windows 3d games? Yes. These are made natively for Windows and most use directx a lot and Cedega still lack lot on that area, because there is so much. However cedegas support is getting better each day. As counter I could say that I was running Anarchy online on my linux box and I was using reiserFS as FS and there was notable difference in zoning than on winXP on same box.
Not ment to say windows sux and linux rox, because personally I use both for different jobs. EvE getting work on linux is good, because these who got windows installed just for eve can move to their primary OS and free some extra disk space. Don't see what problem some people have with this, because it wount stop you from using eve on windows or does it?
Oh and if anyone intrested of good linux distro (there is lot other good ones too), try gentoo.org. They got good forums too where you are welcome.
