"Pirates" are like "PvPers" but with more ganking, more cowardice, and no good fights at all.

People always call pirates cowards but for one I don't engage in fights just for the hell of it . . . I usually want mods or a ransom. Engaging in a fight that I think I don't have a decent chance at winning isn't my idea of a way to make isk.

pirates are cool bunch, they'll catch and ransom you, they'll gank your freighter or they'll scam you, but that's to survive and make money to fit a ship, livin' a life of crime, most of them aren't *******s nor do they smack or anything
the ***got kids that don't give you gf and cry for carebear tears are ppl that make money via alts or run missions in highsec and just wanna play jackasses on the internets so they gank you, kill a newb in losec or probe out a mision runner for ****s cause it costs them pennies and involves no real risk to their play, these ppl will smack you, call you emorage or umad. i'd have to call them pvp-ers 'cause what they're doing involves players pointing guns at other players, but most of the time it's really generous to call what they do pvp.
there are also players who are skilled in pvp, but just get drunk or get a bunch of mates and gank a freigher in jita or sth, but that's to break the routine, so gg mates

the ***gots that don't give you gf are people who make money in annother way so they're there just to kill **** and boost their epeens and don't care about anything. these are the smackers, carebear tears or umad people, they think pvp in eve means being a ****head to people

I'm just speaking from personal experience. YMMV.

Originally by: Herzog Wolfhammer For me, the best sport is in watching people learn that they are not entitled to anything. We have an epidemic, in the US especially, of people who grew up always being praised for nothing, always being told they are entitled to things without reason, and always being told they are special. When they come into this game thinking of things being a certain way with a total lack of the idea that they could be wrong, and then, when the consequences of that action come, they resist it, it is fun to watch. People like that have but one role in the real world: they provide a supply of bones to step over when things go horribly wrong in the world.
You have forever won a place close to my heart for this. Try living in a paternalistic nanny state that has been telling everyone for years that it's ok, you'll be taken care of no matter what. You can only imagine the backlash when you try to change the smallest of things.

I avoid Mara now. As a 90% solo pilot, I became exceptionally annoyed when so many rifter vs. rifter fights turned into a rifter vs. rifter + caracal + falcon + huginn + zealot fight far too many times. It's become really pathetic. Props to the people who bring out the hardware required to deal with a serious threat, I guess.
I have recently been roaming around Minmatar/Amarr FW territory and have been enjoying it. Far more interesting than the Gallente/Caldari FW territory - there's more people and, more importantly, people willing to fight. Fix Rockets in '08 '09 2010 2011 2012?! |

I agree with this so much. I've recently given the FW OMS-Tama pipe a break and have been pvp'ing in that area (Amamake/Auga/Huola etc), and I do get a lot better quality and quantity of fights. I've noticed in the Euro tz it does get a tad busy/blobby, but in the U.S. tz it's a really nice area for solo pvp.

i've always considered real pirates, those who go -10.0, and profit purely from loot/ransoms.
That's pretty much the widespread attitude, which is why highsec piracy is so lucrative.

That was my experience in the Mara area too. Either they run from you or they start calling in lots of friends to kill a lonely little cruiser when the start to lose.
So where are these FW systems you frequent now?
