I was really hoping for a patch to fix all that market and font weirdness.. that will teach me. Although I must say, neither market, nor font are bothering me now.

Hmmmm.
As a professional developer I have to admit that the innumerable times that patches have completely FUBAR'd clients just simply astonishes me.
It's one thing to FUBAR a patch one or twice. But this is a regular thing.
Is someone designated to be responsible for patching? Maintaining patches? Controlling the patch process?
Or is it a catch-as-can system where anybody can throw any old moldy rug into the mix? ----- this signature line intentionally left blank. |

Well, I'm not a developer, but since this is CCPs testserver, I'd rather expect such things to happen. Regularly.

Will we need to download at patch manually to fix this? As the game doesn't really open, which means the auto patch thingy will probably not work. Or is this some issue you(CCP) can fix from your servers? Which eventually will let us open the client properly?

Are you aware of the "crash at splash" bug that's plaguing quite a few people since a couple of builds, too? Since at least my bug report does not seem to be making it past the bug hunters again. --

You can test whether or not the build works. It clearly doesn't. Testing over.

Yes, this will be the case, or alternatively, the repair tool should get people up and running. There's another build tonight, that will fix the issue.
I **** mixed a solution together to see if I could work out what the issue was, after purging some stuff on our build machines, but due to other responsibilities I was only able to push through the one test build.
The server will hopefully be back in normal operation tomorrow.

Yeah, I totally didn't refer to Dts in general.

Well, on my machine the *.exe File Continues to run in the background once opened. I tried several different things to see if it was my error, Like recopying eve folder and re-patching. its clearly something CCP has done. Umm, but yeah once you try and open the exe it fails and continues to run in the background, which isn't good for anyone that had no idea wtf is going on with their pc. -Treetop |

It's almost impossible to give you any suggestions that would help without the output from a LogServer run when you're attempting to logon.

Well let us know if you want them linked on the forums. There's been log server logs attached to my bug report on the matter for weeks, now you'd only need to tell the bughunters to accept the bug reports (assuming you devs won't see them before that - otherwise just go read them...). --

Edited by: Sanctaphan on 24/07/2010 15:24:18 Ok, so i was able to log in, after I did the repair tool in the test eve folder, but all the windows in eve popped up tiny in the middle of the screen clumped together. Thought you might like to know.
The windows have no minimize, close, or pin buttons, and no header tabs. Once I merged them, I could not un-merge them. |
