Example: Caldari - Gallente fights
Occasionally one of the Caldari locations becomes Gallente or vice versa.
Is this done by CCP manipulating the NPCs from behind to enhance the storyline or is it done by Capsuleers, and if so how?
Are there any pages on Factional warfare that explain how a system changes sides and what is required?

Edited by: Machiavelli''s Nemesis on 22/07/2010 12:38:46 Systems change occupancy by player actions, not by anything CCP driven. Many people (myself included) think the capture mechanics are flawed and in need of an overhaul. Basically:
Side A captures a tactical complex (or Plex for short) in Side B's system, the system changes status to "contested". If Side A manages to capture 30-40 more plexes in that system than Side B are able to defend, the system status changes to "vulnerable", which means that Side A's forces can target and shoot the system control bunker. Once the bunker is stripped of shields and armour, the system changes status to "lost", then the following downtime the occupancy flips over to the side that captured it.

okay, it's the correlation between dungeons & bunkers that I needed to know about.
Many thanks,
p.s. I think the term "Plex" is used for too many different reasons in Eve...

After this, if other side can be bothered, they can recpature it in fraction of a time it took to conquer it due to CCP's mechanisms favoring original sov holder which means occupied systems have a humongous pile of plexes most downtimes. Especially so if they have server issues and do multiple start-ups like happened with Caldari losing Old Man Star and Heydieles.
As Bad Messenger says, defending system is somewhat pointless and it's easier to get one back than defend it. Sounds weird but that's how it goes.

But everyone should remember it's only an unfair tactic if the Gallente use it. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

So you still refuse to acknowledge the fact that system is wrong when servers vomit themselves inside out and put 40 plexes to a system? Or you still insist like every other Gallente that it's like regular downtime and said start-ups have nothing to do with it? Makes me wonder why there are no system flippings every day.
Examples: Yesterday when defensive plexes in Matar space doubled in number after server reboot and in Ladistier which actually acquired four times the number of plexes it had prior to that.
So you wonder why there are few people plexing these days? Simply because the work it took to conquer a system (where your side does not have original sov) can easily be undone the moment CCP decides to launch new expansion or patch.

The entire system is botched. Try having fun with with flawed system as best as you can.
Everybody had a blast the night before in Ladistier as well as the next day killing pies in Heyd and OMS while doing tons of plexes.
