what i want to know does it perform faster on a synthetic benchmark which translates into imperceptible differences in daily usage??!!!?
I think telling people what browser you use should be as vulgar and obscene as posting pictures of your **** outside a primary school; it sets up pointless 'Vs' scenarios as if our memespace is being invaded, of which the internet is almost entirely composed, and results in arguements that expand like black holes of idiotic opinion gathering stupidity.
I guess it's because we're all incapable of tolerating the otherness represented by a different choice made by someone who is basically like us in that they will change their internet browser frequently, but them not making the same choice, so much is made of this difference as the the ego it is perhaps all that is separating your existences from being the same pile of ****.
Like locusts, i don't think our opinions were ever meant to be so close to each other, it always end up in a swarm of "X Vs Y" crap.

Edited by: Lance Fighter on 24/07/2010 11:59:44 Hatherly, I have no fking clue what you think you are posting, but whatever it is, it makes no sense.
I think, however, what you tried to say is 'dont post this ****', in which case I would cite other news articles, like say, the oil spill in the gulf (huge deal in florida >.>) or maybe about that laser shooting down UAVs. Lets say for example someone posts "ATI RELEASES NEW CHIP". Would you reply saying 'OMFG GET OVER YOURSELF STOP POSTING ATI vs INTEL'?
ITS A NEWS ARTICLE. Get over yourself.
In other news, Mehk. I do that already with different chrome windows/firefox windows (yes i use both chrome and firefox at the same time). Would be interesting to do it all in firefox, but well, im not sure how well it will be done (ff needs to move everything out of a single process first, PLEASE)

You learn after a while to not take part in it and just give your opinion without needing others to agree. :)
The absolute majority of people are not willing to admit they are wrong when they are, since we tend to see discussions being about "winning" and "losing" instead of about "learning".

Op said nothing about telling people what browser they should use....which makes Lance's post entirely truthful, so GTFO.
I really want to switch to another browser. Opera, Chrome, whatever. FF started out as a light, faster, alternative to the other browsers - but now it's a heavyset bloatfest. But until I see another browser offering noscript, I can't really justify switching.

no really, my point was perhaps at a tangent but if you never got it, that's your problem.
Also I never said anything about the OP "telling people what browsers they should use", so uhm you "gtfo" (hardcore language dude, are you 10?) by your own logic.
Also anyone who just wanted a 'light, fast' browser stopped using bloatfox a long time ago. I hear chrome has both adblock and noflash ability, and whilst noscript is a fine plug in, I've not actually missed it nor has my pc suddenly imploded.

So... basically...
Mozilla put your tabs in some tabs, so that you can tab while you tab.

eh eventually i guess.
Im trying out firefox 4 beta, and uh, really. It feels no different, except that greasemonkey doesnt work yet. Oh. And it looks virtually identical to chrome now, minus some shapes here and there. One difference is that each tab now shows up as a separate application when you click on the firefox button in windows 7 taskbar.. but other than that, really unchanged.

I've never really tabbed myself out that hard, but I could see how it would be useful. As long as it doesn't firefox take even longer to start up.

Browser trying to replicate OS/Windowing system functionality is pure idiocy.
This includes tabs, browsers trying to become an operating system for web-deployed applications and to some extent (but less annoyingly) browsers managing resources such as downloaded files, providing yet another method for installing/uninstalling stuff (plugins)...
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

The desktop is the past. The web is the future.
The actual operating systems will be largely irrelevant in the future. I already spend most of time in the browser when not programming. So what you think is "replicating" is more like "migrating" from my perspective.

It starts slower but after that, there is not much noticeable difference to Chrome.
I dont see the big deal about the browser being super speedy when it sits around doing nothing more than 99% of the time while you read stuff.

you thought wrong.
i'm pointing at the fanboy armies; applications, operating systems, bands, musics styles, and opinions on anything being surrogate to cyclical arguments where the point is to simply 'win' at any cost, reason, logic, evidence, objectivity be damned.
which is why i think even mentioning what browser you use is vulgar

Tab management is a big issue for me. I'm not sure this is the answer but if it's optional, it might be a step in the right direction.
HOWEVER: it's nothing new. Apple was already doing this in OS X and their browsers.

good gods that post made even less sence than the last one! You think talking about what browser someone uses is vulgar. I think its akin to talking about what color shirt I wear.

Believe it or not, IE has no script functionality, it's just more granular than FF, so most people don't bother messing with it.

No, I just find it easier (and easier to organise)to use several browser windows from the task bar than having to browse inside the browser window itself.
