Originally by: Invelious I'm seeing a lot of tears about game mechanics failing here. There is zero reason to blame the mechanics, as you form a alliance under those mechanics, and should know full well what you were getting into when you formed. Anyone complaining about these mechanics in question, fails twice. One, for failing to understand them when you formed the alliance, and 2 for crying about after it bites you in the @ss because you didn't protect yourself.
I'm cool with the fact I have been part of two disbanded alliances in my EVE life... Wanna hold hands and talk about a better life?

I'll spell it out for you.
When CVA was disbanded, we didn't know why to begin with. Neither we nor they knew initially it was a hack. Regardless, we agreed with them that it was a ****ty mechanic, so we agreed not to interefere until they got their **** together again.
Think about that ;)
Do you see that you are just proving his point? What happened to CVA was illegal, and to take advantage of something illegal probably would have been reversed once CCP had sorted things out. So what would have been the point to take advantage of something like that?

Think about this, you gave 5% shares to a nobody and all the people that mattered in the equation f**cked off leaving this guy with way to much authority in the alliance. Cry over your leaderships own stupidity for giving this dude a percentage of anything on your alliance, and quit trying to claim e-honor for holding off when CVA was hacked, yeah you did the right thing, good for you. I'm 100% confident CVA would reciprocate the gesture if you were hacked, but this isn't a hack now is it.

I highlighted the important part where we (Former members of UK) didn't know what f*** was going on with CVA when we didn't take advantage of the situation. Having problems reading?

Lets be honest guys. If UK and -A- thought that taking advantage of the CVA disband thing would have stuck, and not be reversed back to what it was after taking advantage of it, they would have taken advantage of it. Anyone would have, don't lie. Since the circumstances of the CVA disband was different than all others (it being an illegal hack), it didn't really pose an advantage to anyone because they knew that CCP would fix everything.

Edited by: Butter Dog on 25/07/2010 12:18:35 I'm assuming your IQ is below 100, and it's not worth us carrying on this little chat.
The fact is we agreed not to interfere when CVA corps were kicked, and we didn't know it was a hack at the time. We agreed with CVA's assertion that it was a ****ty mechanic.
Not that this really matters, CVA are going to be back in lowsec in a few weeks and we'll be in a new alliance in about 24 hours. They can stoop as low as they like, the end result will be the same.

It's a common thing for unintelligent people to insult others during a disagreement when they realize they have no logic, or fact backing them. It's a defense mechanizism that springs into action going from the topic at hand to their adversary to try to discredit them by making false accusations about their IQ, and other aspects of a person that they don't even know. My IQ may be below 100(maybe not), however your IQ is lower than mine. At least 30 points lower than mine, which puts you on par with Forrest Gump. :)

In-Character, I am quite pleased with the results. A Terrorist force has been (at least temporarily) neutered, stripped of it's name and history, and dealt a strong blow to it's pride. Alistair (the character) despises the Matari Freedom Fighters, and their suffering is good. Amarrians are not Samurai playing Space-Bushido (at least not my reading of prime fiction). They can be as devious and underhanded and exploitive as anyone. As such, in-character, Alistair is pleased at this development, even if he has no knowldge or hand in it's coming.
Out of Character, I truly feel for U'K. To lose your name this way, through such dishonourably outright lies and betrayal from one of your own, who wasn't one of your own, is just crap. I won't lie, I think both CVA and U'K choose to leave behnd some (much?) or their traditional RP roots for being 0.0 Sov Holders, and the sometime sacrifices that requires (like becoming friends with folks who view metagaming as a way of life). I think U'K also engaged in metagaming of it's own over the years too, lord knows we have U'K spies within CVA, they've reported our alliance chat enough times in local over the years. So in some ways, I think U'K made the bed they now lie in.
With that said, I still (out of character/oog) can't really find alot of support for this, and would have preferred it didn't happen, and can assure you that no one I knew knew this was coming. I'd rather fight the U'K in space, than see them brought low in this way, although I doubt the low-bringing will last for long. It hurts, but it's just a name, you still have all that you had before, now with a dose of vengeance. I hope that U'K comes back and strong, the RP battle (for the few of us left who love oldschool RP) is the best rivalry in EVE imo, and a huge part of what makes EVE fun for me.
To Karn, and the rest of the oldschool RP folks in U'K, I am truly sorry for your loss, and I hope you can find a way to get your name back from the traitor at the very least. I'm sorry you've had to go through this, but I know you guys will carry on the good fight and be back with your boots on sooner rather than later. EVE needs U'K as much as it needs CVA in my view, and EVE is a better place for having the both of us. So keep your chins up, and your blades shapr, I am sure we'll see you back and asskicking in no time.
Obviously, my Out-of-character view does not represent CVA in any form, only my own personal view. Please keep that in mind.

You lost you space through a military campaign with strength in space.
Your best chance of getting it back was an alliance disband from a traitor utilizing poor game mechanics.
Aralis knew all about the disband in advance and you serve him. You have no position for a high morale stance in this.

You know what else is funny? You, TCF, and the Test dummies can form up massive invasions against Alliances in which you've had long term relations with within hours, but then when Evoke brought a fleet 130 people into OWXT you all ran like little French Hookers running from the Po po. Now that's funny imo.

You know perfectly well the alliance management system is ridiculous. Its literally impossible to share any kind of control in an executor corp without leaving yourselves open to this. You have encouraged a traitor to destroy the oldest remaining RP alliance in the game for a handful of isk because you were incapable of forging your own competitive coalition and presenting a credible threat to enemy sovereignty with spaceships.
But its pointless talking about it to you Garmon. All I've written above just feeds your teen-rage nihilism: you love wrecking game history in a pathetic manner because it brings the past low and lowers the bar of accomplishment so that insects like yourself are capable of feeling good about their deeds in this universe.
Anybody who cares about the political game of eve would likely agree that CCP should spend some development time improving the corp and alliance management options available since it makes no sense that thousands of players can lose their identity time and time again due to the fact it is literally impossible to secure an alliance entity while giving ANYBODY else control of missile keys.
I was however addressing my posts in this thread to members of the CVA who might actually have a bit of self-respect remaining and see that his involvement in this matter makes Aralis a corrupt and discredited personality far beyond any kind of respect or trust in this game.
It doesn't surprise me in the least to see goons and hydra and other kids applauding the destruction of a famous alliance name. You are spiteful little jealous brats - its what you do.
But its just possible there are some still in the CVA who have a bit more honesty, integrity and frankly self-respect and want their time in Eve to mean a little more than "those RP-guys who got given their space back by pirates and scammers."
Not many I'll grant you, but I bet there are some.

You lost your space through a military campaign with strength in starships and honest aggression.
blueing up the entire south and grinding through billions of hp is as valid of a game mechanic as these cool things called shares
You talk a lot about self respect for someone that role plays a hooker --- Witness epic fleet battles in Dominion
