I tried to logon and it said cluster limit was at max. Please dont tell me the cluster limit is less than 40,000 players.
Wow has a much larger server limit, and eve online should be planning to have more players on the cluster anyway, not maxing at usual player population.
Any idea why the cluster limit is this size after the hardware upgrade?

Edited by: Eepzy Nimbles on 25/07/2010 00:00:56 This message has been around for ages. It's not a cluster limit, but rather a limit on the server that handles your login. Presumably, there are multiple servers that handle logins and they can, somehow, be full. Instead of automatically switching servers or giving a useful response, the client treats you with this message. Restarting the client fixes it.

Eh I was like #170 in the queue for login. I got a drink and chatted to my sister for about 1 minute and came back ready to log on.

The cluster can handle at least 60453 concurrent users.

I have seen the cluster limit notification many times. It always happens within the one hour after downtime ends and everyone is trying to log back on. The number of players is usually around 10k-15k so it can't be the main cluster that is overloading.

@OP, as has already been stated this is a the limit of the proxy servers handling your login/network connection with the sol-blades. They got a limit of simultaneous people trying to get (back) into the game.. Restart client if you don't want to wait as this solves this problem in 99% of the cases this happens to me.. if very busy timeframe (weekends, primetime) you might even need a 2nd restart to get the 'status ok' message.

This happens when the proxy nodes get swamped with login requests, and have to throttle them back to allow smooth logins. ---

Ahh, the grand-daddy of all the unfixed bugs. Old bastard has been doing the rounds for years now, unless I'm mistaken. Please re-size your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

Happens to me all the time. All you have to do is close and reopen the eve client.
Problem solved.

This.
You can either wait until it is your turn or you can close the client and reopen it. This will connect you to a different proxy which is not congested, so you can log on immidiately.

The queue is to prevent the servers from overloading when a large influx of players want to connect at the same time.
Also, quit client, restart client and you skip the queue.

You did it with your sister in under 1 minute? Bravo.
