Hi,
I don't like to make a scream when there is a bug in a game but this one is really great \0/. I know that you can be probed and killed in safe spot while logged off right after an engagment... but 1 hour after the engagment is quiet annoying. So here's the facts:
1. attacking in a system. 2. warp to deep space and waited for 15-20 minuts to logged off. (be sure timer agression will be down and logged off safetly). 3. back to the game and log the character from the character's window. 4. sitting in pod in empire -__-
After discussion, my mates told me that they saw me in local even when logged off.
My few questions... 1. Do i have to Uninstall EVE next time after logged off to be sure not be destroyed? 2. Do i have to Unplug the computer next time after logged off to be sure not be destroyed? 3. Do i have to cut down with knife my internet's connection next time after logged off to be sure not be destroyed? 4. Do i have to do everything above this AND send CCP a recommanded letter to inform you in which system i plan to logged off the next week ?
I may hope you will reimburse this loose (not so great but only for the fact), cause i'm very tired to loose ships when i'm no more in game. (This is only the second time...)

I have seen this problem once before, a guy logged off while in space and remained there for about 8 hours before finally someone probed him down and killed/podded him.

This is a common occurrence. I do not believe that a proper heartbeat between the client and server exists. I have also had a ship that is still logged in "ewarp" and remain connected.

I am new to this game. However, playing this game for 10 days, I do notice that the logoff button if not completely broken, is very close. I was only successfully logoff maybe 1 in 10 times using it.

after your 15 minute agression timer is gone, log onto another character on same account and it should "kick" the other one off.

LOL, that might work, and that would be a CCP favored reply: Please find a workaround for our ****ups, so that we can later call it an exploit.

Yeah, this is becoming a very common problem, but even CCP doesn't know what is going on. I've even had to file petitions for fellow alliance m8's to have their ships removed from space after they were logged off for over an hour!
Basically, don't log off in space until CCP gets a fix for this bug. You WON'T get your ship replaced most likely.

Hi Pasadenasman,
My apology for the late reply. We are sincerely sorry to hear your loss. According to our logs you lost your connection at 2010.07.26 18:02, which indicates that you were killed online. Checking the logs we have at server side I am not able to find any fault in the mechanics or any documented hardware issue that could have caused this. We can only interfere when there is a verified bug or server issue occurred, while it didnĘt involve any in this case. We wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting customer support. Upon our logs, you logged on at 15:03, and you were not disconnected until 18:02. Since your ship loss took place when you were still online, we consider it as normal game play, and sadly cannot offer reimbursement in this case.
Should you encounter any further issues in the game please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards, GM Eskimo The EVE Online Customer Support Team

Request an escalation. Link the bug ID of the bug that you have filed. Make certain that your game logs are attached to the bug. What is an OTAL? |

I had the same problem today. I jumped into an empty system. Moved to a snipe spot off a gate and logged off. I logged back on 3hrs later and was in a pod. If I had just minimised my client I guess I would have been podded. I am sure I logged off. Anyway to check in the logs when you log on and off?

I eve-mailed the chap that killed me and he confirmed I was not in local when he killed my ship. So what to do, I could petition it but why bother. It will be an argument with the GM until its finally escalated to someone who will see reason. If I'd loss a T3 or SC I might be more annoyed about it.

You have to dock before logging off to be sure not be destroyed.

Unfortunately this is becoming quite common and CCP doesn't want to fix it or reimburse it. I've had two fleet mates suffer with this a few times. In one circumstance we had 4 of us in a complex when his internet conked out. His E-Warp failed to engage and his Tengu went pop. CCP claimed they couldn't verify anything despite 3 testimonies and game logs and we never saw an ISK. The same thing happened to one of the participants a week later in his Ishkur during an Op and he had a new one waiting for him in station within 10 minutes. Best solution is to dock before logging but when it's not possible, cross your fingers and pray your GM is feeling happy that day. I'd suggest EVE have a Darwin Awards forum, but half of the players would end up there... |
