Well, there's PI and there is 6 planets per character restriction.
Pi is designed as whole new industry branch, like invention and manufactruing, but now it's more like private stuff, what shouldnt be.
Why not to make corporate Pi-sharing, just like launching a pos (personal or corporate mode). This will make it easier to operate and make it real corporate business. This will also mke planets more volatile (what means wars, yes), just because corporation mostly do not care about private stuff, but really care about corp stuff.
P.S. Pi estblishments on trial accounts must disappear in a week after trial period ends and not paid

Where's the 'like' button? Does eve gate even have that?
To take the idea a step further: Just like corps use POS to build stuff and pay a tax, corp PI should be taxed. Bigger, better command centers = more tax. As POS is to normal space, and outposts is to sov space, corps (or alliances) should have installations (ginorhumungous). Hopefully we can splat peoples brains on their walls in Dust 514 >=)

going up.
There're also a bunch of topics asking for group control of extractors. I think it would be a good idea to implement this one and group control.

Sounds a lot like moon mining...

exactly yes. Moon mining is now far less headache than PI.

Edited by: Fournone on 07/08/2010 00:46:29 Following post is assuming that P.I. is semi private, owned by the corp and rented or taxed by the corp to its members....
Ok, how would this work? Does the corp build P.I. then rent it to the members? Does it tax P.I. built by members? How would you tax P.I.? How many P.I. can a corp build or is it 'owned' by members? Would rent payments be made by it being there or by luanching stuff in/out of planet? Would there be a weekly/monthly P.I. tax?
You got the basic idea, time to work on the details.

1.Does the corp build P.I. then rent it to the members? - No, just an option under command center when you deploy it if it's personal or coporate. The restriction of 6 max centers should still work, for example^ you set up 6 command centers and set em all as corporate, you're not allowed to drop more command centers. You also shouldnt be able to set option back to "personal" only destroy and re-deploy the center. Leaving corp should also destroy existing corporate centers, probably in corp stasis period or on DT.
How it should work: there's a number of members who want additional income and do not want to participate click-fest, assigned pi manager say em "Ok guys, drop your centers on that planet and i'll be giving away 30% of it's product worth"
Does it tax P.I. built by members? - No. Also corporate Pi should be paid from corporation wallet, probably needs division access rights for Pi managers.
Corp tax on members pi is an idea too, but it's pointless to tax THEIR pi untill DUST 514 and planetary battles in sov space.
Also, there's no really need of special corporate cargo on customs offices. Just a pi manager who you trust enough.

I too like the idea, but corp PI needs to be treated in the same manner as any other corporate access privilege. CCP could easily implement a new set of corp permissions for corporate planetary installations, such as viewing the individual units, or moving products across the installation, or importing/exporting goods, things of that sort.

Gould Even be enough to have have a "Corporation Transfer Coupling Array" with very limited Cargo capacity, which whoever in your corp can create links/routes to/from. To make it bulletproof, the Coupling Array only accepts Goods if the links on both sides are set. (same as JB destination setup)

I have an idea (most likely will get explioted by those who have P.I. alts but might aswell post it). If 2 players in the same corp have a P.I. structure relatively close to eachother, they can link them and transfer minerals between eachothers P.I. Reqs, these must be corp owned, not personal. The corp 'P.I. manager' must do this, not the random members. Must be a command center to command center link. That way all items have to go through one link, that way theres not mass mineral/item movement between P.I.

This seems like the most sensible and easiest to implement idea. Create a new role, dunno, "Planetary Manager", who can view other corp members' networks and create routes from/to the corp-owned storage.
P.S. to the OP: a) You have been hanging around the wrong corps. b) Trial accounts can't train any of the PI-related skills. They are sadly missing out on one of the most exciting great new features of EVE. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Yeah, this idea is basically better than mine. Just need some balancing details (but that's what ccp should play around).
Btw, I'm running corp myself and as corp ceo i always want more tools to avoid micro management
