Is there a scenario where fitting one is helpful?
I checked his losses and he has lost a previous one with a LSE on it as well. Is this for plexing or a mission?

This is what is typically referred to as a failfit.
No reason to put a LSE there, but I've already seen a Nidhoggur lossmail with a MAPC and HMLs fitted...

You must be joking. I can't access the link but LSE adds precise amount of shields not percentege so never fit one on a carrier - it's insignificant in comparison to ships own shields. Better use resistance amplifiers - it will add more shields (it won't directly add shields, it will make your shields count more) than LSE.

YES, really on a capital you need to forget about resists and get more buffer.

Since we're touching on this subject. I have a question about regenerative plates (add % to armor), are they viable (on armor tanked caps)?

They're not bad but resists pretty much give you the same ehp and work better with RR.

Short answer is no Long answer is: They become viable after 3 resistance mods, so if you have 3 EANMs you're better of with a regenerative then 4th EANM, on the other hand 4 hardeners are better then 4 EANMs If you devote 8 lowslots on capital to buffer they might be, 1 always goes to DC, so you have 7 left Max EHP configs on number of slots to resistance/regenerative mods 1 - EANM 2 - 2 EANM 3 - 3 EANM 4 - 4 Hardeners 5 - 4 Hardeners + EANM 6 - 4 Hardeners + 2 EANM 7 - Yay! 4 Hadeners + 2 EANM + 1 Regenerative membrane So they are viable on pure buffer tanked Aeon/Avatar and nothing else

Even so the ENAM is probably better in practice since you'll (hopefully) be receiving RR

And even those would probably prefer a cap relay over the regen for obvious reasons. __________________________________________________
