Edited by: Anarr Vinjen on 01/08/2010 22:39:04 As many of you will know, the current dps output of a supercarrier is many times it's intended amount because of the stupid 'drop, shoot, return - rince repeat' - tactic being used, thus effectively reducing the rof-time for fighter-bombers from 15 seconds to a mere few seconds...
suggested solutions: 1 - have rof-timer not reset when drones have returned to bay, or... 2 - make drones not able to return to bay until rof-timer has completed.
suggestions, opinions?

I wasn't aware of this issue but if it works as you say i'd say it's close to exploiting mechanics. However, since i suspect most supercaps arn't always close on the field to their intended target i wonder how long it takes an FB to return bay/ return target and if it would nullify any advantages you'd get from deploy/recall tactics.
In any case any abuse of this tactic should be made impossible since that circumvents the entire mechanics of FB's and their intended operation. ___________

just tested it.....Id need a stopwatch but it is, at best a marginal dps increase, for a LOT of clicking.
The FB's move away for a few seconds before dropping torps, thus making it take longer for them to come back into the drone bay, and then relaunching them again and telling em to attack again and then waiting another few seconds for them to drop torps is a pain. Might even be a DECREASE in dmg. If FB's worked similar to sentries this would work, but as is, its only a marginal increase in dps, and maybe even less dps. I'll test further but Im gonna call dramatic overstatement for now :)

Actually, they would have to completely redo drones inorder to fix this, as this is the case with ALL drones, including ewar drones.

Tested it and it's not worth the messing about tbh.
Clicking like a nutter, plus if you lag out you'll end up with less dps.
I ran a test launching bombers leaving them out and timed from launch to the last of the second round torps hit the target. It ran at 28 seconds. The second test I timed from launch, engaged, ordered the drones back to bay, reluanched and engaged again, it ran at a little over 27 seconds.
If someone wants that kind of click fest, let them have it. I don't see it as an issue.

There's no way that people are getting significant damage increases out of this. No way.

Whine thread!
Lesson #1: Cry Havoc are the ninjas of the capital ship world. If you siege your dread do so knowing Cry Havoc saw you cyno and are already inbound. Educate yourself about the telltale signs of your cyno print on the map.
Lesson #2: Your capital ship,no matter its size, even a titan will not stand long against ***5 supercarriers and bridged support fleet*** and you can bet where those support ships bridged from there was at least a titan standing by.
Lesson #3: That was a very small portion of the Cry Havoc force that killed my Thanatos! Mistress Suffering was there. You are a lucky man! Not too many are lucky enough to be sodomized by her. She does swing both ways though. She left a few marks on my tush. I like it rough. I was shot down by some 6 Nyx and assorted support carriers. By the time I poped there were 6 Nyx,2 or 3 Aeon, 2 or 3 Hel, 13 Thanatos and 11 Archons. Cant recall numbers on Chimera and Nidhoggur.
Sorry there are no "I was pawnt by Cry Havoc" medals though there should be.

My opinion is that you have no clue.
It usually takes 5-10 seconds just to get all your fighters into space, then you need to tell them to engage and hope that your target is within range of their torpedo's.
If you want to nerf something go complain about Stealth bombers, now there is something thats over powered.

tbh I think OP is just butthurt over being instapopped by a couple SC's......the dps is alpha centric for server lag reasons, that doesnt mean that we do more dps, it just means we do a lot all at once :)

PS-TY for the exact timing, I knew it wasnt much if anything at all. I wish I got the G15 instead of the G110 for times like these...stopwatch on keyboard ftw :P
