tl;dr -> What's your tactic with multiple R&D agents? Do you run missions for them all, or just forget about them and collect datacores once in a while?
I'm quiet new to the R&D world. I have one single agent by far and i'm wondering if i should train the skill to run multiple agents. My situation right now is like this: I run missions in a system and I have my R&D agent 2 jumps away; so once per day i can travel there and run the mission for him (to double my research points). Having multiple agents will require to jump through several systems every day, in order to complete missions for everyone. Maybe i could simply run missions for the nearest agent and let the others alone and collecting datacores once per month maybe.
Well, i'd like to know by you how do you deal with them: do you run missions for them all? Do you forget about them and collect datacores once/month or something like that?
Thank you.

Depends on time. But if I have time for travel between agent best is using covert ops frigate rigged for warp speed with nano and overdrive injector. On some routes you can make up to 90j/h using this kind of ship.

Train RPM to L4, get 5 agents. Whenever you feel like it, run some missions for them. Or don't. If you're short on ISK, collect and sell the datacores. Once a week or once a year, who cares.
It's THAT simple.

I ask for the mission when I'm picking up datacores, which I do about once a month. It's not worth the time to run the missions, when you could be running level 3 or 4 missions with that time, or hauling fuel to your reaction POS, or chasing the chooks around the yard.

Yeah, just train yourself 5 agents and go for the best quality ones. I have four which do 200rp/day and one who does 260rp/day. I took a leave from eve for 1-1,5 years and now i have around 450k of rp's. I guess I should cash them in. Stop whining. |

I don't run the missions much anymore, but I used to run them quite a bit. Mine were located in a fairly concentrated area - 2xlvl 4 agents, 2x lvl 3, and 1x lvl2. I chose them for their proximity (because I am lazy), although they are all but one in low-sec. In any case, I used to grind each of the mission daily and it took maybe a half hour, maybe less on a good day. The benefit is not the RPs, but the storyline generation! Back before they 'fixed' the Minmatar courier missions, I was easily getting a lvl 4 storyline a day by running a few small items a system or two, and running my R&D agent missions. Lots of +4 implants, mining foreman mindlinks, and other fun stuff (hate the cash payout ones ).
Anyway, the R&D missions do count toward your storyline total and take almost no time/risk to do. It is nice to bump up your factional standing, and if you are careful, not damage other standings in the process by having to kill factional ships.

I think you'll find the guy above you is researching ships or racial guns. They give more RP/day, although the Datacores cost more RPs. So it's a pointless mechanic at this point.
115 is pretty close to the most you can get.

The missions pay one days worth of data cores. Do the math on how much that is worth and whether you have any other activities that provide you with better isk/hour (especially after travel time). My data core alts also haul stuff and provide cynos, so the only time I do an R&D mission is when I pick up the cores every 3-6 months.

I only do the missions when I pick-up data cores, change agents, or want to update the agent with my new standings (stop and re-start research).
I usually pick-up my datacores once a month.

Me neither, i do know that only by talking to them stuff is updated (like getting a mission). Does your standing with the agent even influence the amount of RP you get?
If you're working for storylines R&D agents are great cause most missions you only have to buy some stuff or whatever and complete the mission. I wouldn't care less for the extra RP, but as it counts towards your 16 missions it can safe a LOT of time. The only think you need to watch out for that you trigger your storyline in some far remote place for some care you couldn't care less about as well :)

/this.
I have 5 agents, and it's something like a 50 jump round trip. So once a month I pop a DVD in my other computer and watch a film as I make my way round and collect all my cores.
They all sit in a can in my hangar, really should sell them or something.

Thinking about it some more, perhaps it was my Negotiation skill that increased, and I restarted research to get the benefit applied.

I have 4 R+D agent, the highest level 4 agent which i research mechanical engineering on only gives me 65 RP per day, is there any way to increase this ?

Skills and standings. My level 4 (quality 8) agents are giving me 78.7 RP/day (level 4 datacore skills). Negotiation doesn't seem to make a difference though. I have 2 toons using the same agent, one has Negotiation 3 and the other has negotiation 4, and they are earning the same RP per day.
I'm currently running 6 toons and 25 agents. For awhile I was doing the missions each day and collecting the datacores every week or so, but now I just let them build up and collect them every few weeks or so when I have time.
