I don't see why this was changed in Exodus. As many of you know, if a channel has quite a few members in it, the member list will not load and instead will only show people once they speak. The result of this is that most newbie channels, namely Republic Military School, are pretty much dead. Most of the seasoned players know this, but the newbies have no clue!
Back when I first started, the newbie corp chat couldn't go 30 seconds without someone saying something. And usually that something was a request for advice, making friends, etc. I know there is the Help channels, but how many of them really know that this channel exists right away? If it could be changed for newbie corp chat only to force a load of the member list, this would greatly help the newbies as they learn this rather complex game. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

I can only totally agree on this. I've been in "noob" corp far longer than most people have been playing and with the new changes SATI has gone from being a friendly informative channel to completely dead. I don't know what kind of moron who suggested improving server performance over player interactivity but it's hurting community lots. I wouldn't have been sticking around for so long if my noob corp always had been dead like it is now. I can only imagine how new players to the game will like the wall of silence they're met with now. ---------------- What's a rumor on page one is a fact on page two |

Ever tried speaking in it?
Go on be brave..... make the first move and shout hi! - you never know people might even talk back!

I've done that, nobody ever responds. Even when I see over 100 people in there. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

I speak in it all the time. That's not a problem.
But imagine being a new player uncertain what to do and how it all works and be placed in a supposed beginner corp channel with out any people in. And even if you find somebody nice to speak with you'll never know when that person is online again unless you know how the "buddy" function works. (And don't remind me how many times I've had to explain that). ---------------- What's a rumor on page one is a fact on page two |

I can see the problem in starting out in EVE and having no one to talk to..but, CCP must have done away with it for a good reason..maybe..dunno.

I agree with what has been said in this thread too.
When I was a newbie (IE first day) not long ago at all, it was great to see people chatting in corp chat, seeing people having the same problems I was having, solving it together, having the more experience people help and so on. Without some of this help, I probably would have got stuck, had nowhere to turn to and left (seeing as I wasnt thinking of staying, I just wanted to try it out to see what it was like). But after I got some help, and started going, it was great, and it had a friendly feel to it. This was one of the main points about newbie corps.
It would be sad if something like that was lost
Just my person opinion.

Caldari Provisions really isn't a newbie corp. It is just an NPC corp that you are forced into if you quit your current corp. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

It needs to be changed on the racial channels as well. The Caldari channel has been just dead since the changes because of that.
