The Sansha raid on Odatrik was epic today. Nearly 3 hours of intense fun. Yes there was bad lag though, seeming to happen mostly when new players, mostly ships, were loading onto the grid.
Things like this, these events, make the game really worth it.
I think there is more going on than just "here are some baddies to shoot". This is more than a game, it's a science fiction story, an interactive one. This is the sort of thing that could replace reading books perhaps, or bolster them. Many of us who where there will be more than simply reading about these battles as they get referenced in future chronicles and novels. We were there, and everybody has their own story to tell.
So I would like to thank CCP for taking the time to put this together, and share these views from the battlefield.

Edited by: Sandrine Navarre on 07/08/2010 17:22:35 When i heard about the invasion, i immediatey jumped into my sturdy battlecruiser and joined the defence fleet. Came a bit late, but even the end of the battle was a lot of fun, though.

So... How are these sanshas? Equivalent to rats? More like players? Do they use the sleeper AI?
If they're just a large bunch of everyday rats then it is a little... anticlimactic.

They're about equivalent to standard rats, just a lot more of them. I had 20 Nation battleships and around 10 frigates all attacking my proteus at once early this morning at the uplifting of Hatakani. I've never seen so many EM missiles and laser beams, even in missions. Luckily the ship was prepared for them, but I'd still like to throw out a huge thanks to all the RR pilots for maintaining shields and armor of anyone who ended up the primary target!
The Nation bounties are higher than usual, as well. 1.7m isk for the battleships. And if you're lucky, you'll see Citizen Astur in a Nation carrier. As for Sleeper AI... I thought they used it at first, or a modified version of it, but they seem to use standard rat AI, for the most part.
Beyond that, local chat has quite a bit of RP which is fun to watch. Actually considered joining in, but I was too busy popping frigates.

Yes, standard rats although toprange. And have been decent number of player ships killed of by them. In an earlier event an alt of mine was in the middle of a new spawn and got primaried by them all.
Lets say tyhe tank did not hold long being primaried by 35 or so Sansha Beastlord battleships....
That risk though is part of the fun for me...and that is not even taking into account the times these events have been in lowsec...

Ya... But it's difficult to take the "sansha threat" seriously when they are so easily destroyed. That pic from a few weeks ago means nothing if they lose just about as many ships every single time.

I imagine if the Sansha NPCs had anything even remotely Sleeper they'd steamroll people a lot harder than they already are.
Normally when there is about +50 people do the Sansha start losing. When they trickle in they tend to get wiped out pretty fast. ______

Ya but maybe instead of 50 BS' they could do like... 10 sleeper like BS'... I dunno. Feels underwhelming!

Admittedly the NPC spawns in these invasions are dumber than parakeets.
It's also possible to fly amongst them. My little ship was in the middle of one of their spawns, and never drew fire.

Just wait till one of the actors tell them to all focus fire on you. Then hope there are no frigates nearby when they do so, since the bastards can web/scram you.

Damn, luck is the one thing I lack in sufficient quantities.

Today, at another invasion at Lirsautton a Chimera appeared. It's unclear whether it was player-controlled or NPC controlled and when it went halfway structure it escaped through the wormhole.

You wouldn't want them to warp the wormhole behind you and then make an ambush now would you. --------------------------------------------- Xeross' ventures into EVE |
